Prediction of the neurological outcome using regional cerebral oxygen saturation in patients with extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a multicenter retrospective cohort study.
To investigate the association between regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2) and neurological outcomes in extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) patients after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). ⋯ The neurological outcome of ECPR patients differed according to their rSO2 values. When considering ECPR, the rSO2 value could be important in addition to other criteria. Further studies that focus on ECPR patients and serial rSO2 values are needed.

Hydrocortisone with fludrocortisone for septic shock: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Combined hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone therapy for septic shock has not been evaluated with an independent systematic review. We aimed to elucidate the beneficial effects of a dual corticosteroid treatment regime involving both hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone for adult patients with septic shock on mortality. ⋯ The available evidence suggests that a combination of fludrocortisone and hydrocortisone is more effective than adjunctive therapy and could be recommended for septic shock.

Comparison of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy and non-invasive ventilation as first-line therapy in respiratory failure: a multicenter retrospective study.
To identify which subgroups of respiratory failure could benefit more from high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy (HFNC) or non-invasive ventilation (NIV). ⋯ High-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy could be more beneficial than NIV in patients with pneumonia or non-hypercapnia, but not in patients with cardiogenic pulmonary edema or hypercapnia.

A text mining analysis of perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic among final-year medical students.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has presented various challenges to medical schools. We performed a text mining analysis via essay task to clarify perceptions among final-year medical students toward the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ Our analysis of perceptions among final-year medical students toward the COVID-19 pandemic revealed that most medical students are strongly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and are motivated to work as physicians among health care professionals.
