The Constipation Severity Instrument (CSI) is a well-validated measure for assessing constipation severity. At present, no translated traditional Chinese version of the scale is available. We aimed to develop a traditional Chinese version of the CSI and to validate the translated version. ⋯ We demonstrated the reliability and validity of the traditional Chinese version of the CSI, which could be a standardized tool for future studies on constipation.

Endoscopes increase the expediency of transcanal middle ear surgery. However, the application of a 70° endoscope is limited and seldom discussed, mainly because of its large angle. We introduce our experiences with the 70° endoscope in transcanal middle ear surgery. ⋯ With the help of a 70° endoscope, we can use the transcanal transperforation route to evaluate and reconstruct drum perforations and ossicular chains in appropriate patients. Hence, normal tissue injuries to the ear canal can be minimized.

Dexamethasone (DEX) implant has been shown to improve visual and anatomic function in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME). The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of DEX implant between refractory and naive eyes with DME. ⋯ To our knowledge, this was the first study comparing DEX implant between treatment-naive and refractory Asian patients with DME. Intravitreal DEX implant can effectively treat refractory and treatment-naive patients with DME. In addition, superior visual outcomes were observed in the naive group comparing to the refractory group following DEX implant treatment in Taiwanese pseudophakic eyes with DME.
