Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) was a disease predominantly affecting young females about 40 years ago; however, it has been increasingly diagnosed in elderly individuals. Few studies have investigated the features of elderly patients with PAH. This review provides an overview of the characteristics of elderly patients with PAH compared to young patients. ⋯ Moreover, it was noted that elderly patients underwent combination drug regimens less frequently and exhibited poorer treatment responses than young patients. Finally, it was found that elderly PAH patients experienced poorer survival than young patients. The differences among five survival prediction models and their applicability in predicting the prognosis of PAH patients are discussed.

Hepatitis D virus dual infection increased the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma compared with hepatitis B virus mono infection: A meta-analysis.
Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) is a defective virus that relies on the supply of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) from hepatitis B virus (HBV) to assemble HDV virions and infect hepatocytes. However, controversy remains in whether the presence of HDV increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our aim is to evaluate the influence of HDV on the risk of HCC through a systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ HDV and HBV dual infection significantly increase the risk of HCC development compared with HBV monoinfection.

Evaluation of the diagnostic accuracy of COVID-19 antigen tests: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to affect countries worldwide. To inhibit the transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), testing of patients, contact tracing, and quarantine of their close contacts have been used as major nonpharmaceutical interventions. The advantages of antigen tests, such as low cost and rapid turnaround, may allow for the rapid identification of larger numbers of infectious persons. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2. ⋯ Antigen tests have moderate sensitivity and high specificity for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. Antigen tests might have a higher sensitivity in detecting SARS-CoV-2 within 7 days after symptom onset. Based on our findings, antigen testing might be an effective method for identifying contagious individuals to block SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

The mainstay therapy for latent tuberculosis infection is a 9-month regimen of daily isoniazid (9H) and a 3-month regimen of 12 once-weekly doses of isoniazid and rifapentine (3HP). We performed this updated meta-analysis to compare hepatotoxicity, efficacy and completion rate between these two regimens. ⋯ The 3HP regimen is superior to the 9H regimen, with less hepatotoxicity, and better efficacy and completion rate in treating latent tuberculosis infection.

This study aims to analyze the fertility preservation decision-making and the sperm retrieval rate (SRR) in older adolescents (age 15-19 years) with nonmosaic Klinefelter syndrome (KS) and azoospermia in a male reproductive clinic, and to determine the accumulated SRR in older adolescents by literature review. ⋯ Successful testicular sperm retrieval in older adolescents with KS is not superior to those reported in adults. Adolescents and their parents should undergo a detailed reproductive consultation process and shared decision-making discussion before considering testicular sperm retrieval.
