Surfactant lavage seems to have a good application prospect both in experimental models and patients with meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS). Data regarding the effect of surfactant lavage on pulmonary complications of MAS are conflicting. In view of these uncertainties, an updated meta-analysis including the latest literatures is performed. ⋯ With respect to oxygen index and days on mechanical ventilation, surfactant lavage is significantly effective compared with control group, though didn't eventually shorten days of oxygen therapy and hospital stay. In addition, our meta-analysis showed that surfactant lavage does not increase the risk of complications.

This meta-analysis of randomized control trials (RCTs) aimed to evaluate the effects of isoflavones supplementation combined with exercise training on bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women. ⋯ The present meta-analysis reveals that isoflavone supplements combined with exercise training do not significantly increase BMD in postmenopausal women. In addition, combined intervention does not provide additive effects on BMD improvements compared with exercise or isoflavone supplementation alone.

Seizure incidence of angiogram-negative subarachnoid hemorrhage: An updated meta-analysis.
To provide updated information on seizure events and patterns in patients with angiogram-negative subarachnoid hemorrhage based on the initial hemorrhage patterns: perimesencephalic subarachnoid hemorrhage (PMH) vs non-PMH. ⋯ PMH is associated with lower seizure risk than non-PMH. However, possible publication bias could be a concern to the interpretation. Additional meta-analyses based on individual patient data from prospective large-scale studies are necessary.

Less invasive surfactant administration in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome-an updated meta-analysis.
Less invasive surfactant administration (LISA) seems to have a good application prospect both in experimental models and patients with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Data regarding the effect of LISA procedure on RDS are conflicting. ⋯ Based on the above evidences, LISA is an effective and safe treatment for preterm infants with RDS.

The relationship between HbA1c control levels and antituberculosis treatment effects: a meta-analysis.
Multiple studies of tuberculosis (TB) treatment have indicated that patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) may experience poor outcomes. We performed a meta-analysis to summarize evidence for the relationship between HbA1c control levels and anti-TB treatment effects in patients afflicted with both TB and DM. ⋯ HbA1c control levels influence the SCR at 3 months and the TB focus absorption at the end of the anti-TB intensive treatment phase. This study highlights a need for increased attention to HbA1c or glucose control in patients afflicted with both TB and DM.
