Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyA multicenter, phase III trial of hemocoagulase Agkistrodon: hemostasis, coagulation, and safety in patients undergoing abdominal surgery.
Hemocoagulase Agkistrodon for injection is a single component thrombin which has passed phases I and II clinical trials. The purpose of this phase III clinical trial was to evaluate the effect of Hemocoagulase Agkistrodon on hemostasis and coagulation in abdominal skin and subcutaneous incisions and to assess the safety of this agent in surgical patients. ⋯ Hemocoagulase Agkistrodon has good hemostatic and coagulative function and is safe for the use of arresting capillary hemorrhage that occurs while incising the abdomen during surgery.

Randomized Controlled TrialLow-dose amiodarone for the prevention of atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass grafting in patients older than 70 years.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common arrhythmia after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), which not only increases the suffering of the patients, but also prolongs hospital stay and enhances cost of care, especially for patients older than 70 years. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of low-dose amiodarone in the prevention of AF after CABG, especially for the elderly. ⋯ Perioperative low-dose oral amiodarone appeared to be cost-effective in the prevention and delay of new-onset postoperative AF in aged patients. It significantly reduced ventricular rate and duration of AF after CABG, decreased hospital cost and stay, as well as promoted the amelioration of left ventricular systolic function. Furthermore, low-dose amiodarone was safe to use and well tolerated with low toxic and side effects, and did not increase the risk of complications and mortality. It is proved to be a first-line therapy and as routine prophylaxis for AF after CABG, especially for elderly patients complicated with left ventricular dysfunction.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of HbA1c in Chinese patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes randomized to twice daily insulin lispro low mix 25 or twice daily human insulin mix 30/70.
Glycemic control prevents onset and progression of diabetes-related long-term complications. The objective of this study was to demonstrate that twice daily insulin lispro low mix 25 is noninferior to twice daily human insulin mix 30/70 in achieving glycemic control as measured by hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), from baseline to endpoint, in patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes. ⋯ The results support noninferiority of twice daily insulin lispro low mix 25 versus twice daily human insulin mix 30/70 in HbA1c control in Chinese patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of tamsulosin with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy in treating distal ureteral stones.
Tamsulosin, an alpha-1 receptor antagonist, has been demonstrated effective in promoting distal ureteral stone passage and in reducing pain associated with stone expulsion. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of tamsulosin in comparison with nifedipine and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) on the expulsion rate of distal ureteral stones at different sizes. ⋯ Tamsulosin treatment is recommended for patients with the stone diameter smaller than 8 mm because of its feasibility, effectiveness and safety. ESWL is more appropriate than tamsulosin therapy for the patients whose stones are larger than 8 mm.

Randomized Controlled TrialClinical evaluation of double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction procedure using hamstring tendon grafts: a prospective, randomized and controlled study.
In clinical studies there is still a lot of controversy about the increased anterior and rotational stability between double-bundle (DB) and single-bundle (SB) anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical results of four-tunnel DB ACL reconstruction. ⋯ Double bundle ACL reconstructions have no obvious clinical advantages over single bundle ACL reconstructions.
