Multicenter StudyOsseointegrated Transtibial Implants in Patients with Peripheral Vascular Disease: A Multicenter Case Series of 5 Patients with 1-Year Follow-up.
Osseointegration is an alternative treatment for amputees who are unable to wear or have difficulty wearing a socket prosthesis. Although the majority of limb amputations are due to vascular disease, such amputations have been perceived as a contraindication to osseointegration surgery. We report the outcomes of osseointegrated reconstruction in a series of 5 patients with limb amputation due to peripheral vascular disease. ⋯ Therapeutic Level IV. Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyTreatment of Displaced Midshaft Clavicle Fractures: Figure-of-Eight Harness Versus Anterior Plate Osteosynthesis: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Most midshaft clavicle fractures affect the economically active population, which is negatively impacted by transient limb impairment during the treatment. There is still debate about the advantages and disadvantages of surgical treatment for these fractures. ⋯ Therapeutic Level I. Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyThe Influence of Shortening on Clinical Outcome in Healed Displaced Midshaft Clavicular Fractures After Nonoperative Treatment.
We aimed to evaluate the effect of clavicular shortening, measured with 3-dimensional computed tomography (3DCT), on functional outcomes and satisfaction in patients with healed displaced midshaft clavicular fractures up to 1 year following injury. ⋯ Therapeutic Level IV. Multicenter StudyFunctional Gain and Pain Relief After Total Joint Replacement According to Obesity Status.
Obesity has been associated with lower function and more pain before and after total hip or knee replacement (THR or TKR). We examined the changes between preoperative and postoperative function and pain in a large representative U.S. cohort to determine if there was a relationship to obesity status. ⋯ Therapeutic Level II.
