Systemic Sclerosis (SSc) patients may need hand surgery. ⋯ The presence of DU in SSc could be used as a screening feature for early identification and referral of potential candidates for hand surgery.

Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) is an important cause of morbidity in cancer patients. Breast cancer patients undergoing surgical treatment are at an increased risk of VTE. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of VTE in patients who underwent surgery for the treatment of breast cancer and to identify the related risk factors. ⋯ The incidence of VTE events in breast cancer patients who underwent surgery was 0.9%. Immediate reconstruction (especially with abdominal-based flaps), skin-sparing/nipple-sparing mastectomies, and longer surgeries were associated with increased risk. The LMWH postoperative prophylaxis reduced this risk.

Glycemic control is important to avoid diabetes complications in individuals with cancer. There is no evidence for HbA1c and fructosamine as reliable biomarkers in these conditions. There are particularities in caring for patients with diabetes and cancer that can alter these biomarkers. ⋯ Fructosamine and HbA1c can be used as glycemic biomarkers in people with diabetes and cancer, even in those with anemia, hypoproteinemia, or undergoing chemotherapy.

With the aging of the population, more patients have complained of pain due to knee Osteoarthritis (OA), and the number of arthroplasties has also increased. The objective of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of the neuropathic pain component in candidates for Total Knee Replacement and the effects of this component on their quality of life. ⋯ Neuropathic pain was present in 28.6 % of the patients with knee OA who are candidates for arthroplasty. Patients with associated neuropathic pain present a higher level of pain and worse quality of life scores. Recognizing this type of pathology is extremely important in fully monitoring gonarthrosis.

Many studies show the importance of evaluating the adaptation time of subjects in a virtual driving environment, looking forwards to a response as closest as a possible real vehicle. ⋯ Age, sex, and distractor interfere in the adaptation of the virtual task of driving in a simulator. The evaluation model developed with multi-domains demonstrated the ability to predict which skills are related to braking time with and without the presence of the distractor.
