To investigate an influence of age and body mass index (BMI) as determinants of infertility treatment success in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures confirmed so far, on the amount of Lactobacilus spp. (LS) and Gardnerella vaginalis (GV) in the endometrium in fresh IVF cycles at the time of embryo transfer. ⋯ Aging affects the endometrial microbiome resulting in an increase of Lactobacillus number, but not the number of GV.

A rare and diverse set of abnormalities formed by spinal blood arteries known as spinal arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) has a higher risk of hemorrhage and morbidity, causing the shunting of blood from veins with an aberrant capillary bed to arteries. Knowledge of the vascular anatomy of spinal AVMs and the spinal cord's vascular supply is crucial to its therapy. The aim of this study was to report a case of SAVM healing after surgical excision, highlighting the importance of surgical excision in treating these rare lesions. ⋯ Treatment strategies for AVM-related spinal aneurysms should be carefully considered. Surgical treatment in several conditions has advantages and is reported to have good outcomes.

To estimate prevalence of respiratory distress syndrome in preterm twins compared to preterm singletons. ⋯ There was a higher risk of respiratory distress syndrome and higher mortality rate in twins compared with singletons, but only in second-born twins the difference was statistically significant.

Acetabular fractures are complex articular fractures with a big challenge for orthopaedic surgeons. Surgically managed displaced fractures carry favourable outcomes, especially if the articular surface is reduced accurately. This study aims to assess the clinical outcomes of surgically fixed displaced acetabular fractures with central dislocation using combined anterior and medial plating. ⋯ Early reduction and surgical fixation of displaced acetabular fractures with central dislocation using combined anterior and medial plates appear to have good clinical outcomes.

To propose a new technique of Ertl-type surgery for significantly shortened and valgus deviated fibula stump. ⋯ The proposed technique can be useful in reconstructive operations on the stump of the tibia.
