Despite advancements in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), morbidity and mortality following ACS remain high. The aim of this study was to actively seek possible predictors of adverse outcomes after ACS aiming to identify high-risk patients promptly. ⋯ Monitoring of serum creatinine level, left atrial diameter, and ejection fraction post-acute coronary syndrome as potential indicators of future MACE within a 12-month follow-up period is of great importance. These findings emphasize the need for tailored management strategies to mitigate risks in this patient population.

During the pandemic of severe acute respiratory syndrome corona-virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), many countries reported a significant decrease in the prevalence of influenza virus cases. The study aimed to characterize the flu seasons from 2018 to 2023 in Sarajevo Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), and to assess the possible impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on the influenza A and B virus circulation. ⋯ The SARS-CoV-2 virus had an impact on the prevalence of influenza virus infection among the population of the Sarajevo Canton, B&H. Since the interactions between these two viruses are not entirely clear, awareness of a possible threat to public health is crucial.

Congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia (CPT) is a rare, dysplastic condition causing significant disability in the lower limbs. A treatment aims to achieve long-lasting union, prevent limb length discrepancies, and prevent soft tissue lesions. Traditional surgery often yields satisfactory results, but amputation may be proposed in failed cases. This report presents a congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia and fibula, treated with the Paley cross-union protocol. ⋯ Cross-union for CPT represents a paradigm shift in the treatment of this horrible child disease. Given the promising result, the cross-union approach has to be regarded as a fresh criterion for treating CPT.

To investigate whether the radiographic progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) correlates with inflammatory markers and other laboratory values, and its association with treatment modalities. ⋯ X-ray changes can be associated with CRP and ESR levels, since structural damage is related to RA disease activity and functional disability. The use of newer treatment modalities may be required to stop the radiographic progression of RA.

To determine the existence of damage to thin sensitive fibres (Aδ and C) by quantitative sensory testing (QST) in female patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), the existence of pain, and a connection with the innervation field of the nerve itself. ⋯ In the carpal tunnel syndrome, there was damage to thin Aδ and C fibers in the innervation field of the median nerve, which causes pain within the innervation field of the nerve, but also outside it, which can most likely be a consequence of brain plasticity and central sensitization.
