Aim To examine unexplored knowledge of cardiovascular highrisk medications and perception thereof among practising nurses and students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Methods The multicentre cross-sectional quantitative study used an online survey dichotomised into a knowledge test (true/false and multiple choice questions) and a perception assessment (closed-ended questions). Four hundred and eighteen nurses participated in the study. ⋯ Conclusion This study revealed a marked knowledge deficit in high-risk cardiovascular drugs among nurses. The pharmacological curriculum in nursing schools should be tailored to be clinically oriented and reinforced with problem-based learning. Continued pharmacology education focusing on high-risk drugs should be implemented among nurses to safeguard patient lives by mitigating the risks of medication error.

Aim To determine the success of endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) treatment and long-term occlusion of small saphenous vein (SSV), as well as factors and conditions that influence the effectiveness of EVLA treatment. Methods A total of 250 patients treated with EVLA method over a period of seven years were followed one year after treatment. The main factors monitored and recorded during EVLA treatment were laser power (W), amount of delivered energy (J), duration of treatment (sec), veins length (cm), diameter (mm) and reflux (sec). ⋯ The physician's assessment and selection of an adequate patient greatly improves the outcome of the treatment. It is important to treat larger branches and double SSV between two fascias. Successful and effective EVLA treatment greatly reduces the possibility of recanalization of the treated vein.

Aim To assess our personal experience of a case of tuberculosis of the talus, and to provide an overview of the literature about the tuberculosis manifestations, including all its aspects: epidemiology, clinical and imaging presentation, and all the treatments available to the current state of knowledge. Methods We present our experience in a case of a 34-year-old patient, who came to our attention with difficulty in walking and pain due to a talar tuberculosis, with consequent bone disruption and reabsorption, and foot deformities. ⋯ Today, almost two years after the treatment, the patient can walk independently with no major limitations in everyday life. Conclusion Tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis with bone graft showed good functional results in this case study, with complete graft fusion and good functional and radiological outcomes.

Aim To investigate whether the use of ion resonance and bromelain-vitamin C or bromelain-vitamin C is the best to prevent ankle complications in post operative bimalleolar surgery. Methods A total of 61 patients treated with bimalleolar surgery were enrolled. The patients were divided into three groups: the first group (n=22) treated only with the surgery, the second group (n=18) treated by ion resonance and bromelain-vitamin C, and the third group (n=21) was treated with bromelain-vitamin C. ⋯ The worst radiographic and stiffness results in the first group were found (p=0.006). The second group showed better bone healing (p=0.049), better performance in functional recovery measured by AFAS (p=0.039). Conclusion Ion resonance and bromelain-vitamin C group showed better outcomes to improve the functional outcome; it allows reduction of complications, consequently, an early return to quality life, and a corresponding improvement of the quality of life.

Aim To investigate the correlations between tumour characteristics, symptoms, intraoperative findings, and outcomes in patient with meningioma. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 86 surgically treated patients at Department of Neurosurgery of Cantonal Hospital Zenica from 2010 to 2020. Patients with intracranial meningiomas underwent neurological evaluation and MRI scans to analyse tumour characteristics, including volume (TV), peritumoral brain oedema (PTBE) and oedema index (EI). ⋯ Grade and tumour border positively correlated with Ki-67 expression (p<0.001). Oedema persistence postoperatively showed a positive correlation with Ki-67 expression (p<0.001). Conclusion The study revealed significant correlations between Ki-67 expression and PTBE, with notable associations with clinical symptoms, tumour characteristics, and postoperative oedema presence.
