Aim To examine unexplored knowledge of cardiovascular highrisk medications and perception thereof among practising nurses and students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Methods The multicentre cross-sectional quantitative study used an online survey dichotomised into a knowledge test (true/false and multiple choice questions) and a perception assessment (closed-ended questions). Four hundred and eighteen nurses participated in the study. ⋯ Conclusion This study revealed a marked knowledge deficit in high-risk cardiovascular drugs among nurses. The pharmacological curriculum in nursing schools should be tailored to be clinically oriented and reinforced with problem-based learning. Continued pharmacology education focusing on high-risk drugs should be implemented among nurses to safeguard patient lives by mitigating the risks of medication error.

Aim The Assessment of Spondyloarthritis International Society Health Index (ASAS HI) Croatian version was used to assess health and functioning of patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA) covering aspects of physical, emotional and social functioning. Methods A cross sectional study was conducted at the Clinic for Internal Diseases Tuzla from January to June 2021. Inclusion criteria: fulfilled the ASAS diagnostic criteria for SpA. ⋯ The correlation between ASDAS-CRP and ASAS HI, (r=0.62; p<0.0009) was positive, statistically significant. However, the significant correlation between disease duration and ASAS HI values was not found (r=0.11; p=0.28). Conclusion The ASAS HI, Croatian version, is valid and reliable disease specific questionnaire for the assessment of health status in patients with SpA in the Bosnian speaking area.

Aim To analyse changes in haematological values after plateletpheresis in donor population with regard to donor safety. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on first time and repeated healthy donors over a period of eight months in the Blood Transfusion Institute in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. A total of 75 plateletpheresis procedures performed using Amicus continuous flow cell separator were evaluated. ⋯ Eight (11%) donors had a post-procedure platelet count less than 150x10e9/L. Twenty two donors (29%) experienced mild side effects due to hypocalcaemia. Conclusion Plateletpheresis procedures are generally safe and well tolerated, without evident associated clinical manifestations on healthy donors.

Aim To assess machine-learning models, their methodological quality, compare their performance, and highlight their limitations. Methods The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) recommendations were applied. Electronic databases Science Direct, MEDLINE through (PubMed, Google Scholar), EBSCO, ERIC, and CINAHL were searched for the period of January 2016 to September 2023. ⋯ Future research can be facilitated by the review's identification of gaps in the literature. Missing data, a lack of external validation, and the diversity of machine learning algorithms are the current obstacles. Despite having a sound mathematical definition, area under the curve application depends on the modelling context.

Aim To compare the accuracy of shoulder ultrasound (US) in diagnosing rotator cuff tendon tears between junior and experienced musculoskeletal (MSK) radiologists. Also, to compare the overall ultrasound accuracy referenced to MRI. Methods A retrospective data collection for patients with clinically suspected rotator cuff tears who underwent ultrasound from June 2021 - June 2023 was conducted. ⋯ Sensitivity, specificity, positive (PPV) and negative predictive values (NPV), and accuracy of US interpreted by junior vs experienced MSK radiologists for supraspinatus full thickness tears (FTTs) were 100% vs 91%, 90% vs 93%, 79% vs 83%, 100% vs 97%, and 93% vs 93%, respectively. After the second consensus, sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV, and accuracy were 91%, 90%, 77%, 96%, and 90%, respectively. Conclusion The accuracy of shoulder ultrasound in diagnosing supraspinatus FTTs by junior MSK radiologists compares well to the more experienced ones, but not for partial thickness tears (PTTs).
