The introduction of foreign bodies in the urethra are uncommon. Given its rarity, the approach to this condition is not standardized but it is highlighted that minimally invasive procedures should be prioritized depending on its feasibility. In the present study, we report a case of a 60-year-old male patient with bipolar disorder and a foreign body impacted in the bulbar urethra with open surgical resolution after a failed endoscopic treatment. We perform an analysis into the diagnostic and therapeutic methods used, with postoperative results.

Uncertainty is present in every medical activity and its inadequate management may have negative consequences. The Physicians' Reactions to Uncertainty (PRU) scale is used to quantify tolerance to uncertainty in medical doctors. Our objective was to carry out the translation into Spanish, cultural adaptation and validation of the PRU scale. ⋯ The a-Cronbach average value was 0.78. These findings indicate that younger physicians and surgical specialists have greater reluctance to disclose uncertainty and mistakes. Having this information and a validated tool can be helpful to study uncertainty in medical doctors in Latin America and drive strategies to appropriately deal with it.

The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic continues causing significant global morbidity and mortality. COVID-19 is an acute respiratory infection that can affect other organs. Tuberculosis (TB) is also an endemic infection that typically occurs with pulmonary involvement and very infrequently, with extra-pulmonary involvement. ⋯ The most frequently associated infection was due to human immunodeficiency virus, (n = 3), underweight (n = 2), COPD (n = 1) and drug addiction (n = 1). Three presented exclusive extrapulmonary involvement of the central nervous system, two pulmonary and pericardial. Four patients (80%) had a favorable evolution.

[Primary pulmonary rabdomyosarcoma: clinical-pathological and immunohistochemical findings].
Pulmonary rhabdomyosarcona is a rare entity and the histopatological differential diagnosis can be difficult. We report on a case of a 48-year-old male patient with a neoplasm located at the hilum of the right lung. The histological study of the lobectomy specimen allowed the diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma to be made. ⋯ One year after the initial surgery, he presented a metastasis in the right adrenal gland. He died 20 months after the original diagnosis. The importance of immunohistochemistry in the diagnosis is emphasized and the different theories that attempt to explain the histogénesis of these tumors in unusual sites are analyzed.

It has been reported in different parts of the world that war veterans are more exposed to cardiovascular risk factors. The objective of this study was to establish the risk factors, the cardiometabolic profile and the prevalence of cardiovascular disease in a group of ex-combatants of the Malvinas War (HdeM). ⋯ The HdeM showed an increase in the frequency of risk factors, metabolic syndrome and acute myocardial infarction. It is important to take this increased risk into account in order to maximize cardiovascular prevention strategies in ex-combatants.
