Comparative StudyIncidental pulmonary nodules in emergent coronary CT angiography for suspected acute coronary syndrome: Impact of revised 2017 Fleischner Society Guidelines.
Pulmonary nodules (PN) are frequently detected incidentally during coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA). We evaluated whether the 2017 Fleischner Society guidelines may result in a decrease of follow-up testing of incidental PN as compared to prior guidelines in patients undergoing coronary CTA. ⋯ Application of the 2017 Fleischner Society Guidelines resulted in a significant decrease of follow-up testing for incidental PN in patients undergoing coronary CTA for suspected acute coronary syndrome.

Comparative StudyCoronary CT angiography features of ruptured and high-risk atherosclerotic plaques: Correlation with intra-vascular ultrasound.
Features of ruptured and high-risk plaque have been described on coronary computed tomography angiography (coronary CTA), but not systematically assessed against intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). We examined the ability of coronary CTA to identify IVUS defined ruptured plaque and Virtual Histology Intravascular Ultrasound (VH-IVUS) defined thin-cap fibroatheroma (TCFA). ⋯ Compared with intravascular ultrasound, coronary CTA identifies ruptured plaque with good specificity but poor sensitivity. We have identified a novel high-risk feature on coronary CTA (necrotic core/fibrous plaque ratio that is associated with VH-IVUS defined-TCFA.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyAtrial function, atrial volume and cardiovascular clinical outcomes in patients with end-stage renal disease - A study of cardiac computed tomography.
Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) have an increased risk of cardiovascular events. Previous studies using 2-dimensional echocardiography show that left atrial end-diastolic volume (LAEDV) predicts cardiovascular outcomes and mortality in patients with CKD. However, contrast-enhanced cardiac CT may offers a more precise measure of atrial dimensions and function than 2-dimensional echocardiography and may provide improved predictionof patient outcome. ⋯ Using contrast-enhanced CT, we demonstrated a correlation between atrial and ventricular functional parameters. However, we found no association with either LAEF or LAEDV or MACE and mortality in this cohort of kidney transplant candidates.

Comparative Study Observational StudyValidation and comparison of four models to calculate pretest probability of obstructive coronary artery disease in a Chinese population: A coronary computed tomographic angiography study.
We sought to compare the performance of the updated Diamond-Forrester method (UDFM), Duke clinical score (DCS), Genders clinical model (GCM) and Genders extended model (GEM) in a Chinese population referred to coronary computed tomography angiography (coronary CTA). ⋯ Although GEM was superior for calculating PTP in a Chinese population referred for coronary CTA, developing new models allowing for more accurate and operational estimation are warranted.
