Multicenter StudyA criterion-based obstetric morbidity audit in southern Thailand.
To evaluate the incidences of severe pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, obstructed labor, and postpartum hemorrhage in the 5 southernmost provinces of Thailand, and the quality of care for these conditions, using a modified version of a criterion-based clinical audit. ⋯ Incomplete diagnosis documentation and evidence of substandard care were common, which warrants auditing for such problems and providing feedback to physicians.

Case Reports Multicenter StudySevere acute maternal morbidity in rural South Africa.
Our objective was to identify the frequency, causes, and avoidable factors of severe acute maternal morbidity (SAMM) in four non-specialist hospitals in rural South Africa. ⋯ A qualitative case review audit of SAMM in a non-specialist rural setting appears feasible and sustainable, and provides valuable information towards improving deficiencies in maternal care.

To compare the effectiveness of prostaglandin E(2) intravaginal gel with the intracervical gel in patients with an unfavorable cervix. ⋯ Intravaginal instillation of prostaglandin E(2) gel for induction of labor is effective in patients with an unfavorable Bishop score of 3-4.
