Multicenter StudyDeterminants of left atrial volume index in patients with aortic stenosis: A multicentre pilot study.
Left atrial (LA) enlargement is frequent in patients with aortic stenosis (AS), yet its determinants and prognostic implications are poorly understood. ⋯ LA enlargement is correlated with AS severity, but also with variables reflecting LV systolic and diastolic dysfunction. Further studies are needed to investigate the outcome implication of LA enlargement in patients with AS.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyOutcome of adults with Eisenmenger syndrome treated with drugs specific to pulmonary arterial hypertension: A French multicentre study.
The relationship between pulmonary arterial hypertension-specific drug therapy (PAH-SDT) and mortality in Eisenmenger syndrome (ES) is controversial. ⋯ Outcomes are poor in ES, but seem better with PAH-SDT. ES with pretricuspid defects has worse outcomes despite the delayed disease onset.

Multicenter StudyPrehospital and in-hospital course of care for patients with acute heart failure: Features and impact on prognosis in "real life".
Acute heart failure (AHF) is a life-threatening medical emergency for which no new effective therapies have emerged in recent decades. No previous study has exhaustively described the entire course of care of AHF patients from first medical contact to hospital discharge or assessed its impact on prognosis. ⋯ Morbimortality and readmissions were high regardless of the course of care in patients admitted for AHF in real life. The reduction in hospital stay when cardiologists were involved in management encourages the creation of "mobile AHF cardiology teams".

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyOutcomes after surgery for acute type A aortic dissection in "non-Marfan syndrome" patients with long life expectancy: A 24-year follow-up.
Long-term survival and risk of reoperation in "non-Marfan syndrome" patients with a long life expectancy who undergo emergency surgery for acute type A aortic dissection (aTAAD) are not well known. ⋯ In our experience, patients who underwent isolated supracoronary ascending aorta or root replacement showed the most satisfactory late survival. However, because the risk of reoperation is low when the replacement is extended to the root, our data suggest that root replacement could represent a good compromise between operative mortality and long-term survival.

Multicenter StudyHigh-sensitivity cardiac troponin T: A biomarker for the early risk stratification of type-A acute aortic dissection?
High-sensitivity cardiac troponin is the most specific and sensitive biomarker of myocardial injury. However, no study has investigated whether the early concentration of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin is increased or is of value in predicting short-term prognosis in patients with type-A acute aortic dissection (AAD) in the emergency department. ⋯ Our study suggests that hs-TnT concentration could be used as an early biomarker for the risk stratification of patients with type-A AAD in the emergency department; the relationship between hs-TnT concentration and long-term prognosis needs further investigation.
