Randomized Controlled TrialMcKenzie training in patients with early stages of ankylosing spondylitis: results of a 24-week controlled study.
It is widely accepted that patient education and regular exercises could improve pain, function and maintain posture in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). ⋯ A specific McKenzie training should be included in the standard-care of AS.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of adding one 15-minute-walk on the day of surgery to fast-track rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty: a randomized, single-blind study.
Earlier and more intensive physiotherapy exercise after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) enhance recovery, but the best combination of intensity and duration has not been determined. ⋯ A 15-minute walk immediately after recovery from spinal anesthesia did not increase pain in patients with TKA. More intense exercise during this period might improve functional recovery without increasing pain.

Randomized Controlled TrialMobilization versus manipulations versus sustain apophyseal natural glide techniques and interaction with psychological factors for patients with chronic neck pain: randomized controlled trial.
Three different types of manual therapy techniques for patients with neck pain and relationship with psychological factors has not been evaluated. ⋯ The findings provide preliminary evidence to support that three different techniques have similar immediate effects over neck pain and while under high anxiety levels a better outcome is expected after mobilization intervention, under low anxiety levels a better prognosis is expected after manipulation and SNAG intervention.

Randomized Controlled TrialPursed lip breathing improves exercise tolerance in COPD: a randomized crossover study.
Although pursed-lip breathing (PLB) has been advocated to reduce respiratory rate and improve oxygen saturation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at rest, the evidence of its effects on dynamic hyperinflation (DH) and exercise tolerance is scarce. ⋯ This study points to a possible application of PLB in a selected group of COPD patients aiming at improving the exercise tolerance. PEF measurements can help to indicate PLB for COPD patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of dynamic lumbar stabilization exercises following lumbar microdiscectomy on pain, mobility and return to work. Randomized controlled trial.
Various lumbar exercise programs are prescribed for rehabilitation purposes following microdiscectomy applied for the treatment of lumbar disk herniation. The literature contains several studies on this subject. However, there are no studies investigating the effects of supervised dynamic lumbar stabilization exercises on fear and fear/regression attitudes of patients and on their return to work. ⋯ DLS exercises may be recommended to patients following spinal surgery due to their benefits in reducing pain, increasing spinal mobility, and ensuring faster return to work periods.
