Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyOutcomes after transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement: a comparison of the randomized PARTNER (Placement of AoRTic TraNscathetER Valves) trial with the NRCA (Nonrandomized Continued Access) registry.
This study sought to determine whether outcomes for transfemoral (TF) transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) differ between the randomized controlled trial (RCT) and the subsequent NRCA (Nonrandomized Continued Access) registry of the PARTNER (Placement of AoRTic TraNscathetER Valves) trial. ⋯ The large NRCA registry demonstrates further improvement in procedural and longer-term outcomes after TF-TAVR when compared with the favorable results from the PARTNER RCT. Multicenter Study Comparative StudyPressure-wire-guided percutaneous transluminal pulmonary angioplasty: a breakthrough in catheter-interventional therapy for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
This study sought to prove the safety and effectiveness of pressure-wire-guided percutaneous transluminal pulmonary angioplasty (PTPA). ⋯ The combined approach using pressure wire and PEPSI produced more efficient clinical results and greatly reduced reperfusion pulmonary edema and vessel complications. This is further evidence that PTPA is an alternative strategy for treating chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.

Multicenter StudyOne-year follow-up of the Melody transcatheter pulmonary valve multicenter post-approval study.
This study sought to confirm that the short-term hemodynamic effectiveness of the Melody transcatheter pulmonary valve (TPV) (Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota) achieved by real-world providers is equivalent to the historical results established in the initial 5-center Investigational Device Exemption trial. ⋯ This first prospective, real-world experience with the Melody TPV in the United States demonstrates continued high procedural success, excellent short-term TPV function, and low reintervention and reoperation rates at 1 year. Multicenter StudyCorrelates and outcomes of late and very late drug-eluting stent thrombosis: results from DESERT (International Drug-Eluting Stent Event Registry of Thrombosis).
The aim of this study was to identify clinical, procedural, and angiographic correlates of late/very late drug-eluting stent (DES) thrombosis as well as to determine the clinical outcomes of these events. ⋯ Despite a large sample of ST cases and use of limited matching to maximize the identification of predictive factors associated with late/very late ST, the variables associated with the development of late/very late ST were only weakly predictive of subsequent events. Additionally, a relatively low observed mortality rate of ST in this series may reflect a different pathophysiology of these late/very late events compared with acute/subacute ST. Multicenter StudyRadiation dose benchmarks during cardiac catheterization for congenital heart disease in the United States.
The aim of this study was to define age-stratified, procedure-specific benchmark radiation dose levels during interventional catheterization for congenital heart disease. ⋯ This study presents age-stratified radiation dose values for 6 common congenital heart interventional catheterization procedures. Fluoroscopy time alone is not an adequate measure for monitoring radiation exposure. These values will be used as baseline for measuring the effectiveness of future quality improvement activities by the Congenital Cardiac Catheterization Project on Outcomes collaborative.
