Randomized Controlled TrialPharmacodynamic Effects of Switching From Prasugrel to Ticagrelor: Results of the Prospective, Randomized SWAP-3 Study.
This study sought to assess the pharmacodynamic (PD) effects of switching to ticagrelor patients who were treated with prasugrel after undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention in the setting of an acute coronary syndrome. ⋯ Switching from prasugrel to ticagrelor leads to transiently higher levels of platelet inhibition, irrespective of the use of a LD, without evidence of drug interactions. Choice of Treatment for Aortic Valve Stenosis in the Era of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in Eastern Denmark (2005 to 2015).
The aim of this study was to evaluate the choice of treatment for severe aortic valve stenosis in the era of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in Eastern Denmark. ⋯ The number of TAVR procedures has increased steadily in recent years, with a TAVR penetration rate of 35% in 2015 and close to 45% when considering isolated AVR. The number of SAVR procedures remained stable over the study period, and surgical bioprostheses are currently used at a much younger age than in 2005.

Comparative Study Observational StudyCoronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery and Percutaneous Coronary Interventions in Patients With Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Disease.
This study sought to investigate long-term clinical outcomes following coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with unprotected left main disease (ULMD). ⋯ In this single-center observational study among patients with ULMD, CABG was associated with improved long-term outcomes, especially in patients with more complex disease.

Meta AnalysisOptimal P2Y12 Inhibitor in Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Network Meta-Analysis.
The study sought to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of P2Y12 inhibitors in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous intervention (PPCI). ⋯ In STEMI patients undergoing PPCI, prasugrel and ticagrelor are more efficacious than clopidogrel; in addition, prasugrel was superior to ticagrelor particularly in conjunction with bivalirudin and drug-eluting stents.
