Cardiotoxicity and Cardiac Monitoring Among Chemotherapy-Treated Breast Cancer Patients.
This study sought to determine the rate of chemotherapy-related cardiotoxicity and to estimate adherence to recommendations for cardiac monitoring among breast cancer patients treated with chemotherapy. ⋯ HF is an uncommon complication of breast cancer therapies. The risk was higher among patients treated with trastuzumab or anthracyclines and lower in younger patients. Cardiac monitoring among trastuzumab-treated patients should be a priority among high-risk patients and in the presence of comorbidities or other chemotherapies such as those using anthracyclines.

Comparative StudyAssessment of Post-Procedural Aortic Regurgitation After TAVR: An Intraprocedural TEE Study.
The purpose of this study was to determine which echocardiographic parameters, including holodiastolic flow reversal (HDFR) in the descending aorta, were useful for grading of post-procedural aortic regurgitation (PAR) after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) using intraprocedural transesophageal echocardiography. ⋯ The presence of consistent HDFR and jet extent beyond the tip of AML are indicative of significant PAR after TAVR.

Multicenter StudyA Bicuspid Aortic Valve Imaging Classification for the TAVR Era.
This study sought to evaluate transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) aortic stenosis (AS), with a particular emphasis on TAVR-directed bicuspid aortic valve imaging (BAVi) of morphological classification. ⋯ In this multicenter study, TAVR achieved favorable outcomes in patients with pre-procedural CT, with the exception of high permanent pacemaker rates for all devices and shapes.

Left Atrial Function Dynamics During Exercise in Heart Failure: Pathophysiological Implications on the Right Heart and Exercise Ventilation Inefficiency.
The hypothesis of this study was that left atrial (LA) dynamic impairment during exercise may trigger right ventricular (RV)-to-pulmonary circulation (PC) uncoupling and ventilation inefficiency. ⋯ In heart failure, an impaired LA-strain response is a key hemodynamic trigger for RV-to-PC uncoupling and exercise ventilation inefficiency with some overlap between HFpEF and HFrEF phenotypes. Reversibility of LA dynamics seems to be an unmet target of specific therapeutic interventions.

Global Longitudinal Strain Is a Superior Predictor of All-Cause Mortality in Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of global longitudinal strain (GLS) in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) patients in relation to all-cause mortality. ⋯ GLS is an independent predictor of all-cause mortality in HFrEF patients, especially in male patients without AF. Furthermore, GLS was a superior prognosticator compared with all other echocardiographic parameters.
