Sacroiliac screw versus a minimally invasive adjustable plate for Zone II sacral fractures: a retrospective study.
Fracture line of the sacrum always involves the Zone II region because sacral foramina are anatomically and physiologically weak regions of the sacrum. The purpose of this study is to compare the therapeutic effects of a sacroiliac screw and a minimally invasive adjustable plate (MIAP) for Zone II sacral fractures. ⋯ MIAP has a fixation effect and exhibits reduction potential for Zone II sacral fractures. Favourable radiographic and functional results could be obtained through the MIAP technique, which is easy to conduct without pre-contouring. Compared with the unilateral S1 sacroiliac screw technique, repeated projections and iatrogenic sacral injury can be avoided.

Syndesmotic fixation in unstable ankle fractures: Does early post-operative weight bearing affect radiographic outcomes?
To analyse whether early post-operative full weight bearing following syndesmotic ankle fixation affected radiographic outcomes suggestive of diastasis. ⋯ After surgical stabilization of an unstable syndesmotic injury, full weight bearing did not lead to syndesmotic diastasis in the early post-operative period. Full weight bearing is recommended following ankle fixation which includes syndesmotic fixation.

Hip dislocations are highly morbid injuries necessitating prompt reduction and post-reduction assessment for fracture and incarcerated fragments. Recent literature has questioned the need for initial pelvic radiographs for acute trauma patients, resulting in computed tomography (CT) scans as the initial evaluation. This study investigates the relationship between choice of pre-reduction imaging and treatment of acute hip dislocations. ⋯ Prognostic Level III.

Having motor impairment since childhood and being at risk of osteoporosis and falls, adults with polio would be more likely to suffer a hip fracture (HF) and may experience different epidemiological characteristics from the general population. ⋯ Adults with polio are at risk of HF. A customized HF prevention program is important for people with polio. The program should be started early in middle-age and should include men.

Femur fractures due to bomb explosions and gunshots in battlefield require osseous stabilization as quickly as possible to expedite emergent conditions. İmmediate external fixation is the initial procedure as usual with planned early conversion to definitive treatment. The purpose of the current study is to determine the results of the early retrograde intramedullary nailing in combat-related injuries. ⋯ We concluded that immediate retrograde intramedullary nailing in combat-related supracondylar femur fractures regardless of contamination even in Gustilo type III is a safe and reliable treatment method.
