We aimed to investigate the surgical techniques, efficacy, and safety of Starr frame-assisted minimally invasive internal fixation for simultaneous anterior and posterior ring stability in pelvic fractures. ⋯ Starr frame-assisted minimally invasive internal fixation could stabilize the anterior and posterior pelvic rings simultaneously, overcoming the difficulty of fracture reduction. This technique can help patients with early postoperative weight-bearing and improved functional outcomes, providing a novel modality for the minimally invasive treatment of pelvic ring injuries.

Treatment of acute Rookwood type III AC joint dislocation is still controversially discussed. ISAKOS suggested to subdivide type III AC joint injuries into type IIIA (stable) and type IIIB (unstable). The aim of this study was to compare clinical and radiographic outcomes between hook plate fixation and mini-open tightrope for the treatment of acute Rookwood type IIIB acromioclavicular joint dislocation. ⋯ The mini-open tightrope has better function and relieves pain in the early postoperative period compared to hook plate, and at the last follow up two groups have similar clinical and radiological outcomes. Mini-open TightRope fixation is a good option for the treatment of acute Rockwood types ⅢB AC joint dislocation.

The development of a pelvic wound infection in the presence of hardware after open reduction and internal fixation presents a clinical dilemma and there is little literature to aid in decision-making. The purpose of this study was to describe the possibility of debridement, antibiotic pearls and retention of the implant (DAPRI) procedure to eradicate the infection. ⋯ The DAPRI technique might represent a safe and more conservative treatment for management of early fracture-related infections (FRI) of the pelvis and acetabulum.

The outcomes of hip fracture rely heavily on subjective pain relief, and social media provides a remarkable lens to examine the patient experience. ⋯ Social media analysis is a powerful tool for evaluating characteristics important to patients. Instagram was used more by patients and focused on rehabilitation. Twitter posts were more frequently made by professional organizations and tended to be educational. Lastly, Facebook posts were made primarily by businesses and focused on marketing.

To compare the bone transport over an intramedullary nail in combination with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate versus bone transport alone with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate for the treatment of tibial large bone defects. ⋯ Compared with the conventional Ilizarov technique combining with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate for large tibial bone defects, bone transport over an intramedullary nail in combination with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate had favourable external fixation time, external fixation index, weight bearing time and clinical functional outcomes which effectively suppressed the infection and allowed patients earlier removal of the external fixator and weight bearing for rehabilitation.
