Comparison of unintended pregnancy at 12 months between two contraceptive care programs; a controlled time-trend design.
To compare unintended pregnancy rates at 12 months between women receiving structured contraceptive counseling plus usual contraceptive care and women receiving structured contraceptive counseling, healthcare provider education and cost support for long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) methods. ⋯ A program of contraceptive care that includes comprehensive counseling; healthcare provider education; cost support; and on-the-shelf, long-acting reversible contraception can reduce unintended pregnancy compared to contraceptive counseling in addition to usual health center care in the FQHC setting.

TelAbortion: evaluation of a direct to patient telemedicine abortion service in the United States.
To evaluate the safety, feasibility, and acceptability of a direct-to-patient telemedicine service that enabled people to obtain medical abortion without visiting an abortion provider in person. ⋯ Provision of medical abortion by direct-to-patient telemedicine and mail has the potential to increase abortion access by increasing the reach of providers and by offering people the option of obtaining abortion care without an in-person visit to an abortion provider.

Simplified medical abortion screening: a demonstration project.
The objectives were to evaluate the safety and acceptability of outpatient medical abortion in selected women without a pretreatment ultrasound or pelvic examination. ⋯ Screening for medical abortion without exam or ultrasound shows promise as a means for increasing access to this service. More research is needed to develop screening criteria that are more inclusive and simpler for clinical use.

A prospective, non-randomized study of home use of mifepristone for medical abortion in the U.S.
To determine the acceptability of taking mifepristone at home for early medical abortion in the United States. ⋯ Offering the option of home use of mifepristone to medical abortion patients can provide women and clinics with more flexibility while maintaining a safe, effective and acceptable service. These results provide support for telemedicine or pharmacy distribution.

Prophylactic ibuprofen does not improve pain with IUD insertion: a randomized trial.
To evaluate if ibuprofen 800mg reduces pain with intrauterine device (IUD) insertion among U.S. women. ⋯ Administration of ibuprofen 800mg prior to IUD insertion does not reduce pain associated with the procedure for U.S. women. Overall, nulliparous women report more pain with IUD insertion than multiparous women.
