Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEffectiveness of Remote Patient Monitoring After Discharge of Hospitalized Patients With Heart Failure: The Better Effectiveness After Transition -- Heart Failure (BEAT-HF) Randomized Clinical Trial.
It remains unclear whether telemonitoring approaches provide benefits for patients with heart failure (HF) after hospitalization. ⋯ Among patients hospitalized for HF, combined health coaching telephone calls and telemonitoring did not reduce 180-day readmissions.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA Mind-Body Program for Older Adults With Chronic Low Back Pain: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Treatment of chronic low back pain (LBP) in older adults is limited by the adverse effects of analgesics. Effective nonpharmacologic treatment options are needed. ⋯ A mind-body program for chronic LBP improved short-term function and long-term current and most severe pain. The functional improvement was not sustained, suggesting that future development of the intervention could focus on durability.

Randomized Controlled TrialPromoting Patient-Centered Counseling to Reduce Use of Low-Value Diagnostic Tests: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Low-value diagnostic tests have been included on primary care specialty societies' "Choosing Wisely" Top Five lists. ⋯ An SP-based intervention did not improve the patient-centeredness of SP encounters, use of targeted interactional techniques, or rates of low-value test ordering, although SPs were more satisfied with intervention than control residents.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Mailing Nicotine Patches on Tobacco Cessation Among Adult Smokers: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
The efficacy of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) is well demonstrated in clinical trials in which NRT is accompanied by behavioral support. Epidemiologic data, however, indicate that people using NRT are no more likely to successfully quit smoking than those who do not use NRT. ⋯ The trial provides evidence of the effectiveness of mailed nicotine patches without behavioral support to promote tobacco cessation. The strength of these findings is tempered by the lack of biochemical validation for all participants.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Pragmatic Clinical TrialPrescription Strategies in Acute Uncomplicated Respiratory Infections: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Delayed antibiotic prescription helps to reduce antibiotic use with reasonable symptom control. There are different strategies of delayed prescription, but it is not yet clear which one is the most effective. ⋯ Delayed strategies were associated with slightly greater but clinically similar symptom burden and duration and also with substantially reduced antibiotic use when compared with an immediate strategy.
