Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Cardiovascular diseases such as AMI, AS, cardiac hypertrophy and cardiac fibrosis can be alleviated by controlling the inflammatory response, cellular proliferation, production of ROS and secretion of cytokines. Sestrins are considered to be protective proteins which can prevent age-related diseases. ⋯ According to existing studies, the main functions of sestrins are strongly associated with the pathological features of cardiovascular disease and exert protective roles in cardiovascular disease. Based on the current evidence, we present a mini-review on the physiological functions and mechanism of sestrins in cardiology. The purpose of this review is to summarize the functions and mechanism of sestrins in common cardiovascular diseases, to raise awareness in clinicians that sestrins may be an important potential target for controlling progression of disease.

Early clinical evidence suggests that severe cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), are frequently characterized by hyperinflammation, imbalance of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, and a particular form of vasculopathy, thrombotic microangiopathy, and intravascular coagulopathy. In this paper, we present an immunothrombosis model of COVID-19. We discuss the underlying pathogenesis and the interaction between multiple systems, resulting in propagation of immunothrombosis, which through investigation in the coming weeks, may lead to both an improved understanding of COVID-19 pathophysiology and identification of innovative and efficient therapeutic targets to reverse the otherwise unfavorable clinical outcome of many of these patients.

Atherosclerosis is regarded as a lipid-driven chronic inflammatory disease. A variety of immune cells, including B1 cells, play an important role in the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis. ⋯ Accumulating evidence has shown that T15/E06 can protect against atherosclerosis by blocking macrophage lipid uptake, inhibiting vascular inflammation, and promoting apoptotic cell clearance. In this review, we describe the structure, functions and regulation of T15/E06 and summarize the latest advance regarding its atheroprotective effect.

Prognostic role of microRNA-155 in patients with leukemia: A meta-analysis.
Recent studies have shown that microRNA-155 (miR-155) is correlated with clinical outcomes of leukemia. This meta-analysis explores to evaluate the prognostic value of miR-155 for survival in patients with leukemia. ⋯ We conclude that high miR-155 expression was associated with shorter OS for leukemia patients, and that miR-155 might be a promising prognostic biomarker for this patient population.

Plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) is a newly discovered long non-coding RNA that functions as an oncogenic molecule in different cancers. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine its prognostic potential for malignant tumors. ⋯ Elevated PVT1 expression was related to poor prognosis and might be a potential biomarkerof clinicopathological characteristics in different cancer types. More studies need to be conducted to verify the clinical value of PVT1 in human cancers.
