To determine the accuracy of the susceptible vessel sign (SVS) in the detection of arterial occlusion and its clinical implication in acute ischaemic stroke. ⋯ The SVS is a highly specific sign of occlusive arterial thrombus, and is associated with larger infarct volume and more severe presentation in a series of consecutive stroke patients, as well as in the subgroup of patients with acute arterial occlusion.

To evaluate the precision of the centrality index (CI) measurement on three-dimensional (3D) volume rendering technique (VRT) images in patients with renal masses, compared to its standard measurement on axial images. ⋯ The present study showed that VRT and axial images produce almost identical values of CI, with the advantages of greater ease of execution and a time saving of almost 50% for 3D VRT images. In addition, VRT provides an integrated perspective that can better assist surgeons in clinical decision making and in operative planning, suggesting this technique as a possible standard method for CI measurement.

To determine the added value of dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging (DCE) over T2-weighted imaging (T2-WI) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPC) in patients with elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA). ⋯ The added value of DCE over T2-WI and DWI is limited when using PI-RADSv2 for diagnosis of csPC in patients with elevated PSA before biopsy. An alternative overall assessment score using only T2-WI and DWI yielded similar performance to PI-RADSv2.

To evaluate major/minor discrepancy rates for provisional (initial) and addendum (supplementary senior review) emergency computed tomography (CT) reports in patients presenting with non-traumatic abdominal pain. ⋯ This study should be used to provide impetus to improve aspects of out-of-hours CT reporting. Clear benefits of CT interpretation/review by on-site and more senior (consultant) radiologists have been demonstrated.

To investigate the feasibility of using a low-concentration test bolus in abdominal aorta computed tomography (CT) angiography (CTA). ⋯ A low-concentration test bolus (5 ml, 1:1 diluted with saline) is feasible in patients with a BMI ≤28 kg/m2.
