Trans-organ versus trans-mesenteric computed tomography-guided percutaneous fine-needle aspiration biopsy of pancreatic masses: feasibility and safety.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) of pancreatic masses that traverses the gastrointestinal tract or solid viscera. ⋯ Percutaneous FNAB using the trans-organ approach is a safe and effective technique to diagnose pancreatic malignancy.

Prospective observational study on diagnostic accuracy of whole-body MRI in solid small round cell tumours.
To assess the diagnostic accuracy of whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WB-MRI) for metastatic disease in patients with solid small round cell tumours (SRCT) by comparing it with routine staging procedures (standard of care). ⋯ WB-MRI is a radiation-free tool with high diagnostic accuracy for the evaluation of metastatic disease to the marrow. The rate of detection of soft-tissue metastases, such as nodal metastases, is less when WB-MRI is compared with conventional staging using coronal STIR images. CT thorax is essential for accurate evaluation of lung metastases.

To record and analyse data from all facets of practice in the first year as a newly set-up major trauma centre radiology department. ⋯ Based on our early experiences, nearly one-third of patients who undergo a WBCT scan for suspected polytrauma, will have no acute injury at WBCT. One-fifth of patients in our study required emergency surgical or radiological intervention for acute injuries found on WBCT. A low discrepancy rate was found between on-call registrar reports and the consultant-verified reports.

To report experience of prophylactic occlusion balloon catheters (POBCs) in both internal iliac arteries before caesarean section, with or without embolization, to preserve the uterus and reduce haemorrhage. ⋯ POBC, with or without UAE, contributes to reduction of blood loss and preservation of the uterus in women with MAP.

To describe the characteristic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of paraneoplastic autoimmune encephalitis in patients with new-onset status epilepticus. ⋯ The presence of limbic and extra-limbic T2 signal abnormalities in new-onset status epilepticus should suggest the diagnosis of a paraneoplastic syndrome, especially when status epilepticus is refractory to treatment. The lesions are consistently seen as hyperintense on T2WI.
