Measurement properties of patient reported outcome measures for spondyloarthritis: A systematic review.
This systematic review aimed to identify studies investigating measurement properties of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) for spondyloarthritis (SpA), and to evaluate their methodological quality and level of evidence relating to the measurement properties of PROMs. ⋯ This study identified 60 unique PROMs through a systematic review and synthesized evidence of the measurement properties of the PROMs. There is a lack of validation of PROMs for use across SpA subtypes. Future studies may consider validating PROMs for use across different SpA subtypes.

How is symptom flare defined in musculoskeletal conditions: A systematic review.
To systematically review the definitions for "flare" in musculoskeletal conditions, the derivation processes, and validation of definitions for the 12 most burdensome musculoskeletal conditions. ⋯ This review suggests that greater characterisation and definition of flares in musculoskeletal conditions are linked to the inclusion of multiple perspectives, multifaceted domains and compound comparators for their validation. Further work is required to optimise and test the derived definitions for most musculoskeletal conditions. As some elements are disease-specific, flare definitions cannot be extrapolated to other conditions. Research regarding flare in back pain (most burdensome disease) is limited.

Review Meta AnalysisEvidence of reduced parasympathetic autonomic regulation in inflammatory joint disease: A meta-analyses study.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and spondyloarthritis (SpA) are inflammatory joint disorders (IJD) with increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Autonomic dysfunction (AD) is a risk factor for CVD, and parasympathetic AD is linked to key features of IJD such as inflammation, physical inactivity and pain. Heart-rate variability (HRV) is a marker of cardiac AD. The study objective was to compare parasympathetic cardiac AD, measured by HRV, between patients with IJD and healthy controls, using meta-analysis methodology, and to examine the impact of inflammation, physical inactivity and pain on HRV in IJD. ⋯ Patients with IJD have cardiac parasympathetic AD which is related to inflammation.

Review Meta AnalysisPresence of comorbidities and prognosis of clinical symptoms in knee and/or hip osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
(i) To determine the association between the presence of comorbidities and severity of pain and physical dysfunction in people with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis; (ii) to explore associations between specific comorbidities (cardiac disease and/or hypertension, diabetes, depression, and back pain) and symptom severity. ⋯ Greater comorbidity burden contributes to worse pain and performance-based physical function in people with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis. Suffering comorbid cardiac disease including hypertension, back pain or diabetes may have differential effects on symptom severity.
