Randomized Controlled TrialRandomized trial investigating the efficacy of manual lymphatic drainage to improve early outcome after total knee arthroplasty.
To investigate the efficacy of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) in the early postoperative period after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) to reduce edema and pain and improve knee range of motion. ⋯ MLD in the early postoperative stages after TKA appears to improve active knee flexion up to 6 weeks postsurgery, in addition to conventional care.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyMedical complications during inpatient rehabilitation among patients with traumatic disorders of consciousness.
To assess the incidence of medical complications in patients with recent traumatic disorders of consciousness (DOCs). ⋯ Patients with DOCs have a high rate of medical complications early after injury. Many of these complications require brain injury expertise for optimal management. Active medical management appears to contribute to the reduction in new complications. An optimal system of care for DOC patients must provide expert medical management in the early weeks after injury.

Randomized Controlled TrialMetabolic responses to 4 different body weight-supported locomotor training approaches in persons with incomplete spinal cord injury.
To describe metabolic responses accompanying 4 different locomotor training (LT) approaches. ⋯ DGO and TM walking training was less effective in increasing V˙o2 and velocity across participant-selected walking speeds, while TS and OG training was more effective in improving these parameters and also walking economy. Therefore, the latter 2 approaches hold greater promise for improving clinically relevant outcomes such as enhanced endurance, functionality, or in-home/community ambulation.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of intra-articular hyaluronic acid injections with transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation for the management of knee osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled trial.
To compare the effects of intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA; ARTZ) and transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) in the treatment of patients with knee osteoarthritis. ⋯ TENS with silver spike point electrodes was observed to be more effective than intra-articular HA injection for patients with knee osteoarthritis in improving the VAS for pain at 2 weeks' follow-up as well as the Lequesne index at 2 weeks' and 3 months' follow-up.

To understand lumbar multifidus (LM) muscle activation as a clinical feature to predict patients with low back pain (LBP) who are likely to benefit from stabilization (STB) exercises. ⋯ LM-muscle activation does not appear to be a clinical feature that predicts patients with LBP likely to benefit from STB exercises.
