Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyTraining mode-dependent changes in motor performance in neck pain.
To determine whether changes in motor performance after a course of exercise in patients with mechanical neck pain (MNP) were dependent on the primary behavioral demand of the exercise performed. ⋯ Changes in motor performance in individuals with MNP in response to an exercise program were dependent on the specific mode of exercise performed, with minimal improvement in other domains of motor performance.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudySubacromial corticosteroid injection on poststroke hemiplegic shoulder pain: a randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
To evaluate the effect of subacromial corticosteroid injection on hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP). ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first randomized, placebo-controlled study to assess the efficacy of subacromial injection in HSP patients with evidence of rotator cuff disorder. Subacromial corticosteroid injection showed improvement in pain, disability, and active range of motion, and the duration of its efficacy continued up to 8 weeks.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyAddition of intra-articular hyaluronate injection to physical therapy program produces no extra benefits in patients with adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder: a randomized controlled trial.
To compare the efficacy of intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA) injections plus physical therapy (PT) with that of PT alone for the treatment of adhesive capsulitis (AC) of the shoulder. ⋯ Intra-articular HA injections did not produce added benefits for patients with AC of the shoulder who were already receiving PT. Thus, the use of intra-articular HA injections for patients with AC of the shoulder should be carefully assessed to reduce unnecessary medical expenditures.

To investigate the effects of short-term light therapy with 890-nm radiation on pain, physical activity, and postural stability in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ Short-term 890-nm radiation therapy for patients with knee OA provided no beneficial effect in improving pain, physical activity, and postural stability.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyComparison of the efficacy of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, interferential currents, and shortwave diathermy in knee osteoarthritis: a double-blind, randomized, controlled, multicenter study.
To compare the effectiveness of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), interferential currents (IFCs), and shortwave diathermy (SWD) against each other and sham intervention with exercise training and education as a multimodal package. ⋯ Although all groups showed significant improvements, we can suggest that the use of physical therapy agents in knee OA provided additional benefits in improving pain because paracetamol intake was significantly higher in the patients who were treated with 3 sham interventions in addition to exercise and education.
