Multicenter StudyEtiology of traumatic brain injury: characterization of differential outcomes up to 1 year postinjury.
To characterize outcomes after traumatic brain injury (TBI) resulting from vehicular crashes, violence, falls, or other causes. ⋯ This study elucidated important differences between persons with violence-related TBI and those with non-violence-related TBI. Further research is needed to find effective interventions to address these differences.

Multicenter StudyCourse of functional improvement after stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
To examine functional improvement patterns of persons with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and spinal cord injury (SCI). ⋯ When examined separately for persons grouped by LOS, functional status improved linearly during the rehabilitation stay, with differences in rate of improvement depending on initial functional status.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical TrialTwo configurations of static magnetic fields for treating rheumatoid arthritis of the knee: a double-blind clinical trial.
To assess the efficacy of a nonpharmacologic, noninvasive static magnetic device as adjunctive therapy for knee pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ⋯ Both devices demonstrated statistically significant pain reduction in comparison to baseline, with concordance across multiple indices. However, a significant difference was not observed between the 2 treatment groups (p < .23). In future studies, the MagnaBloc treatment should be compared with a nonmagnetic placebo treatment to characterize further its therapeutic potential for treating RA. This study did elucidate methods for conducting clinical trials with magnetic devices.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical TrialRehabilitation of neck-shoulder pain in women industrial workers: a randomized trial comparing isometric shoulder endurance training with isometric shoulder strength training.
To study whether isometric shoulder endurance was more advantageous than isometric shoulder strength training in reducing pain and perceived exertion and to increase shoulder function through improved muscle endurance and strength. ⋯ Physical training programs for neck-shoulder pain may include isometric shoulder muscular strength exercise in addition to isometric shoulder endurance training, rather than endurance training only.

Multicenter StudyPredicting electrodiagnostic outcome in patients with upper limb symptoms: are the history and physical examination helpful?
To determine the effectiveness of medical history and physical examination in predicting electrodiagnostic outcome in patients with suspected cervical radiculopathy. ⋯ In a population of patients with suspected cervical radiculopathy, medical history and physical examination are helpful yet not sufficient to predict the electrodiagnostic outcome.
