Review Meta AnalysisPlatelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and prognosis in STEMI: a meta-analysis.
Platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) is a haematological index which reflects increased level of inflammation and thrombosis. We aimed to summarize the potential prognostic role of PLR for the in-hospital and long-term outcomes in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) in a meta-analysis. ⋯ Higher PLR predicts poor in-hospital and long-term prognosis in STEMI patients after pPCI.

Review Meta AnalysisDirect oral anticoagulants and advanced liver disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are recommended for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) or for treatment of deep vein thrombosis, although some concerns about safety and efficacy were raised on the use of these drugs in patients with advanced liver disease (ALD). We want to investigate the association of DOACs use with the bleeding and ischaemic risk. ⋯ DOACs are associated with a lower incidence of bleeding and may be an attractive therapeutic option in patients with cirrhosis.

Review Meta AnalysisPrognostic value of cystatin C in patients with acute coronary syndrome:A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Circulating cystatin C has been considered as an independent predictor of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in the general population. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of baseline circulating cystatin C levels in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) through meta-analysis. ⋯ Our meta-analysis showed that high cystatin C levels were significantly associated with the death risk and MACE in ACS patients. Therefore, cystatin C can be included in the risk stratification model to guide the treatment of high-risk ACS patients.

Review Meta AnalysisMicroRNA-223 in Gastrointestinal Cancers: A Systematic Review and Diagnostic Meta-Analysis.
Several studies have been conducted on the diagnostic role of miR-223 in cancers related to the digestive system. However, the diagnostic role of this microRNA in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers has not been fully elucidated. This meta-analysis aimed to accurately assess the diagnostic role of circulating miR-223 in GI cancers. ⋯ Our meta-analysis showed the value of circulating miR-223 levels in the early diagnosis of diverse digestive system carcinomas.

Review Meta AnalysisInhaled corticosteroids and risk of lung cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Current studies investigating the association between inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) use and risk of lung cancer have yielded inconsistent findings. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to pool all currently available data to estimate this association. ⋯ The present study suggested that ICS use was associated with decreased risk of lung cancer. However, our findings should be interpreted with caution because most original studies were judged to be at high risk of immortal time bias.
