Tackling the public health challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) requires promotion of appropriate antimicrobial use by health-care professionals. Since 2015, the risks of dying due to drug-related causes are higher in prison than in the general population, with opiates and psychoactive substances being the most common substances recorded on death certificates in prison. Many individuals use drugs before entering the prison environment, it is not clear which individuals continue to use drugs while in prison. This study is a first step towards identifying characteristics of those who use drugs in prison, while exploring substances commonly used. ⋯ Public Health Wales.

In economic evaluations, average intervention effects are usually applied to a population. However, this fails to reflect the change in the distribution of HbA1c due to heterogeneous responses to weight loss. We aimed to investigate whether allowing heterogeneous treatment effects using a beta regression better represented the distribution of HbA1c after a weight-loss intervention, and how this affected cost effectiveness. ⋯ National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Programme Grants for Applied Research Programme (Reference Number RP-PG0216-20010).

Although trade union membership rates have continuously decreased over the past 30 years, about 50% of UK employees are still represented by a union. Yet, studies on the association between collective bargaining and workers' mental health are sparse, especially in the pandemic context.
