Chiari type I malformation with occult tethered cord syndrome in a child: A case report.
Chiari type I malformation (CM1) and occult tethered cord syndrome (OTCS) are considered to be malformations associated with subtle structural abnormalities of the terminal filum. Few studies have reported patients with CM1 and OTCS. Treatment strategy for patients of CM1 associated with OTCS is controversial. ⋯ For pediatric patients with CM1 and TCS, treatment trouble is not only to choose the staging operation or simultaneous operation but also staging procedures for treatment of 2 lesions. Detailed preoperative evaluation is essential for development of individualized surgical plan. Staging operation of firstly minimally invasive SFT and later PFD may be helpful for such cases owing to its positive effect on both the symptoms and imaging findings.

A novel splint, the assisting ankle-foot orthoses (AFO), was developed to provide adjustable sustained stretching to improve conservative treatment for equinus deformities in children with cerebral palsy (CP). The treatment effect was validated by follow-up visits. ⋯ This study suggests that correction with the adjustable splint-assisted AFO is an effective treatment for equinus deformity in CP Children.

Although transient reduction in the left ventricular ejection fraction is characteristic of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, little is known about the time-course changes of myocardial deformation in coronary vasospasm-related Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. ⋯ From this limited experience, it is suggested that echocardiographic myocardial deformation analysis can provide more information than the standard ejection fraction in evaluating myocardial contractile function.

Safety of potassium-bearing citrate in patients with renal transplantation: A case report.
Urinary lithiasis is one of severe postoperative complications in patients undergoing renal transplantation, possibly leading to anuria, urinary infection, or even acute renal failure. Potassium sodium hydrogen citrate (PSHC), a potassium-bearing citrate, is commonly prescribed to prevent stone formation. ⋯ Physicians should pay close attentions to potential risks caused by PSHC, and monitor the SPCs to minimize the occurrence of hyperkalemia.

Staged hepatectomy is an important surgical method for large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the insufficient future liver remnant (FLR) is still the major barrier in stage II hepatectomy. We herein reported a case of laparoscopic associating liver tourniquet and portal ligation combined rescue transhepatic arterial embolization (TAE) for staged hepatectomy. ⋯ Rescue TAE plays an important role to stimulate the increasing of FLR after ALTPS.
