Potential role of contrast-enhanced ultrasound for the differentiation of malignant and benign gallbladder lesions in East Asia: A meta-analysis and systematic review.
The purpose of this study was to systematically review and evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in differentiating malignant and benign gallbladder lesions. ⋯ The results yielded from the available evidence suggest that CEUS is a promising and adjuvant imaging technique to conventional ultrasound for the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant gallbladder lesions.

The association between vitamin D status and tuberculosis in children: A meta-analysis.
Vitamin D deficiency (VDD) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of tuberculosis (TB), but most studies have not reported a significant association. We conducted a meta-analysis to explore the association between vitamin D status and TB in children. ⋯ This study suggests that vitamin D levels are significantly lower in children with TB/latent TB infection than in controls. TB may contribute to VDD in children. Therefore, VDD may be associated with TB in children.

Clinical adverse effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors: Protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are a novel class of oral antidiabetic drugs, which mainly increase urinary glucose excretion through reducing renal glucose reabsorption. There is still a concern about the overall safety profile of SGLT2 inhibitors. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we will assess the clinical adverse effects of SGLT2 inhibitors in type 2 diabetes mellitus. ⋯ Our study will provide a comprehensive picture of AEs of SGLT2 inhibitors.

Electroacupuncture for patients with irritable bowel syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis protocol.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common functional intestinal disease characterized by chronic or recurrent abdominal pain, abdominal distension, constipation and diarrhea. Many IBS sufferers are usually present with poor quality of life for the abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, constipation, and other complaints. At present, the commonly used drug therapy for IBS in the Western clinic, such as antidiarrheal, laxative, gastrointestinal antispasmodic, often cannot get satisfying curative effect. Thus complementary therapies like electroacupuncture (EA) which may be effective to decrease patients' pain and fewer side-effects will be sought. EA, an innovative form of traditional acupuncture, is drawing more attention to the treatment of IBS due to its roles in symptom improvement. This systematic review protocol aims at describing a meta-analysis to critically evaluate the effectiveness and safety on EA for patients with IBS. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42018081610.

Suprapatellar versus infrapatellar intramedullary nailing for treatment of tibial shaft fractures in adults.
Numerous studies have compared suprapatellar (SP) nailing to infrapatellar (IP) nailing for treatment of tibial shaft fractures; however, the best strategy remains controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis is to assess whether SP or IP nailing is more effective for tibial shaft fractures in adults. ⋯ The present meta-analysis indicates that SP intramedullary nailing has obvious advantages over IP intramedullary nailing for treatment of tibial shaft fractures in adults. However, owing to the low-quality evidence currently available, additional high-quality RCTs are needed to confirm these findings.
