Randomized Controlled Trial
Preoperative oral thyroid hormones to prevent euthyroid sick syndrome and attenuate myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass in children: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Both euthyroid sick syndrome and myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury are common and have been significantly associated with morbidity and mortality after pediatric cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. This single-center, prospective, double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled clinical pilot trial was designed to assess if preoperative oral thyroid hormone therapy could prevent the occurrence of euthyroid sick syndrome (ESS) and attenuate myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in children. ⋯ In children undergoing cardiac surgery with CPB, preoperative oral small-dose thyroid hormone therapy reduces severity of postoperative ESS and provides a protection against myocardial IRI by increasing HSP70 and MHCα expression.

Review Meta Analysis
Polymorphism of R353Q (rs6046) in factor VII and the risk of myocardial infarction: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Genetic components substantially contribute to the development of myocardial infarction (MI), and R353Q polymorphism (rs6046) in FVII gene has been suspected to be associated with the risk of MI. ⋯ The current meta-analysis suggested that R353Q polymorphism was not associated with the MI risk. Asian population, BMI category, and diabetes might be related to the incidence of MI. However, large-scale, case-control studies with rigorous designs are essential to provide accurate evidence.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Effects of the Chinese herb formula Yufeining on stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
A Chinese herb formula Yufeining (YFN) has showed promise in the treatment of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), less is known that the impact of YFN in combination with standard Western treatments on lung inflammation. This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of YFN as a treatment for stable COPD and as an anti-inflammatory agent. ⋯ No. ChiCTR-IOR-17013577.

Anomalous course and tenosynovitis of extensor pollicis longus (EPL) tendon is a rare condition that presents clinical symptoms very similar to de Quervain's disease. Herein we report a case of anomalous course and tenosynovitis of the extensor pollicis longus (EPL) tendon associated with symptoms of de Quervain's disease. ⋯ Anomalous course of the EPL tendon is rarely reported associated with similar symptoms of de Quervain's disease. However, the knowledge and understanding of this potential anomaly in the course of EPL tendon is very important for the treatment of de Quervain's disease to decrease patient dissatisfaction after surgery.

To explore the therapy of ankle joint dislocation treating dislocated trimalleolar fractures accompanied with the complex posterior malleolus fracture without separation of the tibiofibular syndesmosis and improve surgical results. Patients who had dislocated trimalleolar fractures accompanied with the complex posterior malleolus fracture without separation of the tibiofibular syndesmosis were retrospectively analyzed and 30 patients were enrolled the study. They were all treated by ankle joint dislocation and the surgical results were evaluated by the Baird-Jackson ankle scoring system. ⋯ According to the Baird-Jackson ankle scoring system, the excellent and good result was 28 cases, fair was 2 cases which the excellent and good rate was 93.3% without talar necrosis in any cases. Ankle joint dislocation can achieve the satisfactory results in treating dislocated trimalleolar fractures accompanied with the complex posterior malleolus fracture without separation of the tibiofibular syndesmosis. Ankle joint dislocation can make joint cartilage restore accurately with excellent results.
