To investigate the feasibility, efficacy, and safety of laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair in patients with inguinal hernia accompanied by liver cirrhosis. Between October 2015 and May 2018, 17 patients with liver cirrhosis who underwent TEP repair were included in this study. The baseline characteristics, perioperative data, and recurrence were retrospectively reviewed. ⋯ During a follow-up of 19.29 ± 9.01 months, no patients had recurrence and chronic pain, but 2 patients died because of the progression of underlying liver disease. Early and elective inguinal hernia repair is feasible and effective for patients with liver cirrhosis. TEP is a feasible and safe repair option for cirrhotic patients in experienced hands.

Periprocedural myocardial injury (PMI) and contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) are frequent complications of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) associated with early and late major adverse cardiovascular events. Both conditions are associated with similar risk factors, which could imply their possible association. The aim of our study was to assess the correlation of PMI and early postprocedural creatinine shift (ECS) as a marker of renal injury. ⋯ Further analyses of our data showed that diabetes is associated with a higher incidence of ECS, while patients on beta-blocker therapy had a lower incidence of ECS. In our study, no association between PMI and ECS was found. Additional studies with a larger number of patients and longer patient observation are needed to assess the correlation between PMI and CIN as well as to validate the attractive, but controversial, concept of ECS as an early marker of CIN.

Lifestyle in preschool children is associated with the onset of childhood obesity. However, the effect of environmental factors in childcare facilities on lifestyle and obesity in preschool children is unknown. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of environmental factors in childcare facilities on the association between obesity and individual lifestyle in preschool children. ⋯ The childhood obesity was significantly associated with the mastication, nutritional methods during infancy, absence of breakfast, presence of skipping meals due to overeating of snacks, usual play activity, screen time on weekdays, maternal body mass index, and maternal weight increase during pregnancy at the individual level. On the other hand, childhood obesity had a significantly negative association with the receiving snacks in facilities by using multilevel analysis. The present study revealed that establishing and maintaining environmental factors in childcare facilities may play important roles in the prevention of obesity from early childhood.

An investigation of lower urinary tract symptoms and its potential associated factors in adult Chinese women with zero-inflated negative binomial regression model.
Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) have detrimental impact on health-related quality of life. This study has 2 aims: first to identify the optimum model for LUTS study and then to explore the potential associated factors of LUTS and bother LUTS with the optimum model among adult women in China. The survey was conducted in 6 regions of China between February and July 2006. ⋯ ZINB model was the optimum model to explore the potential associated factors of LUTS. Older age, coexisting POP and constipation were both closely related to any and bother LUTS, also the severity of LUTS. Compared to nulliparity, single or multiple deliveries and women who had perineal laceration had nothing to do with the severity of LUTS.

Patient delay and associated factors among Chinese women with breast cancer: A cross-sectional study.
To examine the current situation of patient delay and to identify factors associated with patient delay among women with breast cancer in China. A total of 283 women, aged 23 to 83 years old and with histologically confirmed breast cancer, were investigated in this cross-sectional study. The women were recruited from seven selected hospitals in Sichuan Province, China. ⋯ These factors explained 41.0% of the variance. Information on the current situation and predictors of patient delay in Chinese women with breast cancer might provide meaning insights into the early diagnosis of breast cancer. The results of this study may help health professionals develop specific clinical practice strategies to reduce patient delay of initial treatment as a way to improve outcomes for women with breast cancer.
