Previous evidence directly evaluating the efficacy and safety of abiraterone and enzalutamide treatment for castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is limited. We aim to include more randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to comprehensively assess the efficacy and safety of abiraterone and enzalutamide treatment. ⋯ The survival benefits of abiraterone and enzalutamide for CRPC were evident and promising, while the risk of AE occurrence was also acceptably higher in the treatment group than in the placebo group.

Our objective is to assess the effects of epinephrine for out of hospital cardiac arrest. ⋯ In conclusion, in this systematic review and meta-analysis involving studies, the use of epinephrine resulted in a significantly higher likelihood of survival to hospital discharge and ROSC than the non-epinephrine administration, but, there was no significant between group difference in the rate of a favorable neurologic outcome.

The incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) varies from 5.4% to 47.1% in patients with mitral annulus calcification (MAC). We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the association between MAC and AF, as well as the relation between MAC and major cardiac adverse events (MACEs) in AF patients. ⋯ MAC was independently associated with AF and AF patients with MAC were at greater risk for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events.

There have been several case-control studies to assess the relationship between the transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) T + 869C (rs1982073)/C-509T (rs1800469) gene polymorphism and lung cancer in recent years; however, the results remain controversial. In this study, we investigated the potential correlation between the TGF-β1 T + 869C/C-509T polymorphism and increased risk of lung cancer through meta-analysis. ⋯ The TGF-β1 T + 869C (rs1982073) and C-509T (rs1800469) polymorphisms are not implicated in lung cancer susceptibility in the overall population. However, our analysis indicated that the C-509T (rs1800469) polymorphism decreases the risk of lung cancer in patients with NSCLC.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is one of the most common chronic inflammatory disorders affecting the sacroiliac joints, spine, and peripheral joints. Apart from HLA-B27, the LMP2 gene has been shown to play a role in the pathogenesis of AS as well as AAU in AS. However, genetic associations between LMP2 CfoI polymorphism and AS and AAU were inconclusive. We aimed to investigate the correlation of LMP2 CfoI polymorphism and AS and AAU using meta-analysis. ⋯ Our combined results revealed that the allelic model of LMP2 CfoI might be a protective factor for AS in the Caucasian population. Nevertheless, future studies on different ethnicities with larger sample sizes are needed to obtain a more convincing result.
