Thread-embedding acupuncture for lumbar herniated intervertebral disc: Protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Lumbar herniated intervertebral disc (LHIVD) is a frequent disease among patients attending Korean medicine hospitals, and it is associated with considerable medical expenses for the patients. Although several recent randomized clinical trials (RCTs) have reported that thread-embedding acupuncture (TEA) has a more favorable therapeutic effect on LHIVD than other types of acupuncture or other treatments, the evidence remains limited because these trials used poor assessment methods and had a high risk of bias. This study aims to evaluate the evidence for the effectiveness and safety of TEA for LHIVD. In this article, we describe our methods and plan for a systematic review. ⋯ Ethical approval is not necessary as this paper does not involve patient data. The review will be published in a peer-reviewed journal or presented in a conference.

Effectiveness comparisons of Chinese patent medicine on treating premature ejaculation: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Premature ejaculation (PE) is a form of male sexual dysfunction. As people's lifestyle changes and the population ages, the incidence of PE continues to increase. Chinese patent medicines have been widely used in clinical practice as derivatives of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Many clinical trials have proven that Chinese patent medicine has a significant effect in the treatment of PE. In this systematic review, we aim to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Chinese patent medicine for PE. ⋯ This systematic review will evaluate the efficacy and safety of TCM for treating PE. Because all of the data used in this systematic review and meta-analysis have been published, this review does not require ethical approval. Furthermore, all data will be analyzed anonymously during the review process Trial.

The short-term effect and safety of duloxetine in osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Previous clinical trials indicated that duloxetine may be effective in the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) pain. This meta-analysis is conducted to evaluate short term analgesic effect and safety of duloxetine in the treatment of OA. ⋯ Duloxetine was an effective and safe choice to improve pain and functional outcome in OA patients. However, further studies are still needed to find out the optimal dosage for OA and examine its long-term efficacy and safety.

Ulcerative colitis (UC), one of the most stubborn diseases, is mainly treated by aminosalicylic acid (ASA). However, the side effects of ASA include vomiting, nausea, rash, diarrhea, headache, etc, which seriously affect life-quality of UC patients. Probiotics such as bifid triple viable (BTV) could reduce drug-induced adverse reactions and has a good clinical effect on UC. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of BTV plus ASA in treating UC. ⋯ BTV plus ASA has positive therapeutic effects on UC, and it might be a safe way to treat UC. However, comprehensive clinical trials are needed to obtain high level of clinical evidence.

Neck pain is an important cause of disability. In spite of its high prevalence rate, treatment of the disorder is a challenging topic. Exercise therapy appears to be effective at decreasing pain and improving function for patients with NP in practice guidelines. Core stability exercise is becoming increasingly popular for NP. However, it is currently unknown whether core stability exercise produces more beneficial effects than general exercise in patients with NP. The aim of this study is to explore the therapeutic effect of core stability exercise for neck pain. ⋯ We do not apply for formal ethical approval from ethics committee because all of the study data in our review will be obtained in an anonymous way. Findings of this study are projected to be disseminated through peer-review publications.
