Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia disease that can cause thromboembolic disease and/or heart failure, resulting in increased mortality. Propafenone, amiodarone, and flecainide are recommended for converting AF to sinus rhythm. Beta blockers, verapamil, diltiazem, and digoxin are recommended for controlling AF with fast ventricular rate (VR). In this case report, we found that verapamil successfully converted AF into sinus rhythm. ⋯ For the treatment of AF, nondihydropyridine calcium antagonists can be tried in the absence of antiarrhythmic drugs.

Non-syndromic occurrence of true generalized microdontia with hypodontia: A case report.
Dental abnormalities can occur at any stage of tooth development. Of these abnormalities, true generalized microdontia is a rare condition in which all teeth are smaller than normal, while hypodontia is defined as the absence of 1 to 5 teeth. As far as we are aware, no article has reported a case of the non-syndromic occurrence of true generalized microdontia with hypodontia. ⋯ The non-syndromic presence of true generalized microdontia is extremely rare. A personalized treatment plan with multi-disciplinary considerations should be given for these patients. The pathogenesis remains unclear but may be related to genetic as well as environmental factors. More studies are urgently needed to explore the pathogenesis and treatment options for the future.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has increasingly been used to treat early gastric cancer (EGC); however, its efficacy in treating papillary adenocarcinoma-type EGC remains unknown. We sought to identify risk factors for lymph node (LN) metastasis in papillary adenocarcinoma-type EGC and evaluate the clinical outcome after ESD. This study retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who were diagnosed with EGC in our hospital from January 2009 to December 2016. ⋯ There were no significant differences in curative resection rate (P = .327), procedure-related complication (P = .853), local recurrence (P = 1.000), or overall survival (P = 1.000). ESD of papillary adenocarcinoma-type EGC showed an acceptable outcome in comparison to an existing ESD indication group. However, these patients exhibit a relatively higher risk of LN metastasis.

Infracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous return in a patient with Williams syndrome: A case report.
Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR) is a rare condition, accounting for 1% of all congenital heart diseases, and an atypical cardiovascular abnormality in Williams syndrome (WS). Here, we report a rare case of WS combined with infracardiac TAPVR. ⋯ This case demonstrates that patients with WS can have associated infracardiac TAPVR. The postoperative growth patterns and changes in the diameters of the aorta and pulmonary arteries were related closely to our early diagnosis of TAPVR associated with WS.

The patient's pattern identification has been used for personalized medicine in traditional Korean medicine (TKM) and aims for patient-specific therapy by Korean medical doctors. The pattern identification in this trial will be diagnosed from body constitution questionnaire (BCQ) with a more objective diagnosis of it but this method still needs a more concrete scientific basis. Glycoproteins are well-known to be associated with diseases (especially cancers) so glycoproteomics can be applied to differentiate pattern identification types of lung cancer patients. Thus, for the first time proteomics approach will be applied to the pattern identification by comparing BCQ assessment in order to establish a scientific basis with clinical proteomics for precision medicine. ⋯ This study intends to diagnose pattern identification of patients in TKM with BCQ assessment and proteomics approach. The identification of the glycoproteins in each group will lead to the scientific foundation of personalized medicine in TKM according to patients' pattern identification for lung cancer therapy. We intend to(1) diagnose the pattern identification types of lung cancer patients with BCQ under the framework of TKM;(2) evaluate BCQ assessment with glycoproteomics approach for precision medicine.
