Observational Study
High systemic immune-inflammation index predicts poor prognosis in advanced lung adenocarcinoma patients treated with EGFR-TKIs.
EGFR-TKIs have been widely used in the first-line treatment of NSCLC patients harboring EGFR mutations. However, the prognosis indicators are limited. In the present study, the prognostic value of systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) were assessed in EGFR-Mutant lung adenocarcinoma patients treated with first-generation EGFR-TKIs. ⋯ In multivariate analysis, NLR (HR 1.736;95%CI:1.020-2.954; P = .03), PLR (HR 1.823; 95%CI:1.059-3.137; P = .04), and SII (HR2.577; 95%CI:1.677-3.958; P < .001) were independently correlated with PFS. While only SII (HR 2.802; 95%CI:1.659-4.733; P < .001) was independently correlated with OS. The present study demonstrated that SII is an independent prognostic factor for poor survival of advanced EGFR-Mutant lung adenocarcinoma patients treated with first-generation TKIs.

Correlation between cervical lordosis and cervical disc herniation in young patients with neck pain.
Abnormal cervical curvature and cervical disc herniation are closely related to neck pain and should be taken into account before any treatment. However, studies have rarely reported on the correlation between cervical lordosis and cervical disc herniation in patients with neck pain. Therefore, in this study, we collect young neck pain patients with abnormal cervical curvature to evaluate the relationship between cervical lordosis and cervical disc herniation. ⋯ With the improvement of cervical lordotic curvature, the degree of disc herniation decreased and height of disc space increased. The degree of disc herniation and cervical spinal cord compression are inversely correlated to cervical lordosis in young neck pain patients, and the degree of disc herniation and height of disc space can recover with the recovery of cervical lordotic curvature. These findings may indicating a link between cervical curvature and degenerative changes which have important clinical implications.

This study is to analyze the functional genes and metabolic pathways of dexamethasone degradation in Burkholderia through genome sequencing. A new Burkholderia sp. CQQ001 (B. ⋯ CQ001 is a bacterium with strong metabolic function and rich metabolic pathways. It has the potential to degrade aromatics and other exogenous chemicals and contains genes for steroid metabolism. Our study enriches the genetic information of Burkholderia and provides information for the application of Burkholderia in bioremediation and steroid medicine production.

Case Reports
A rare cutaneous phototoxic rash after vandetanib therapy in a patient with thyroid cancer: A case report.
Vandetanib is effective for treating symptomatic or progressive medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) in patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic disease, but its toxicity such as photosensitivity reactions should be considered. It is a rare adverse effect of this drug but might cause severe morbidity and even mortality. ⋯ Close attention should be paid to the adverse effect of vandetanib, phototoxic rash, and patients should be advised on the prevention and treatment measures.

Distal radius fracture involving the lunate facet is a tough issue for surgeons, but currently there is scarcity of data on these injuries. This study aims to evaluate results of volar locking plate (VLP) for treatment of die-punch fractures of the distal radius. Between January 2013 and June 2017, a total of 37 patients with die-punch fractures of the distal radius were admitted and underwent VLP fixation. ⋯ VLP demonstrated its efficacy and safety for treatment of die-punch fractures. Prospective comparative studies with larger sample are required to compare the outcomes among different fixation methods, with expectation of precise and individualized treatment for every patient. Type of study/level of evidence: Therapeutic III.
