A randomized controlled study for the treatment of middle-aged and old-aged lumbar disc herniation by Shis spine balance manipulation combined with bone and muscle guidance.
Ninety percent of elderly patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) have problems with the mechanics of the spine and muscle tissue. Shi-style spine balance manipulation combined with guidance (Daoyin) of muscle and bone as an alternative therapy for LDH can tone the muscle groups around the spine and maintain optimal mechanical and static sagittal balance of the spine. This study will be performed to investigate the effect of a combination of Shi-style spine balance manipulation and Daoyin therapy on LDH in middle-aged and elderly patients. ⋯ During the treatment period, any signs of acute adverse events, such as paralysis of the lower extremities or cauda equina syndrome, will be recorded at each visit. Although Shi-style spine manipulation combined with Daoyin therapy has been used in the treatment of LDH in middle-aged and elderly people in China for many years, there is no consensus on its effectiveness. This experiment will provide convincing evidence of the efficacy of Shi-style spine manipulation combined with Daoyin therapy in the treatment of LDH in middle-aged and elderly people.

Quantitative assessment-based nursing intervention improves bowel function in patients with neurogenic bowel dysfunction after spinal cord injury: Study protocol for a randomized controlled study.
The neurogenic bowel dysfunction is a kind of familiar sequelae of the spinal cord injury (SCI), occurring in 70 to 80 percent of the SCI patients. The nursing intervention based on quantitative evaluation is to fully consider and assess the disease condition of patients, implement the personalized programs of nursing intervention, meet the patient's nursing needs to the maximum extent, improve the quality of nursing, and then facilitate the rehabilitation of patients. Our aim is to implement this program to evaluate the impact of this nursing intervention based on quantitative evaluation on the quality of life and bowel function in the neurogenic bowel dysfunction patients after SCI. ⋯ Nursing intervention based on the quantitative evaluation can improve the quality of life and recovery of intestinal function for the neurogenic intestinal dysfunction patients after SCI.

Transcutaneous parasacral nerve stimulation (TPNS) via electrodes placed over the sacrum can activate afferent neuronal networks noninvasively, leading to sacral reflexes that may improve colonic motility. Thus, TPNS can be considered a promising, noninvasive, and safe method for the treatment of constipation. However, there is no published study investigating its use in children with functional constipation. This is a single-center, prospective, longitudinal, and interventional study designed to assess the applicability and clinical outcomes of TPNS in functionally constipated children. ⋯ we expect that this study protocol can show the efficacy of this promising method to assist the treatment of children with functional constipation.

In clinical practices, postoperative fracture patients are often treated with analgesics. As one of the alternative therapies for nondrug analgesia, auricular point pressing has advantages of simple operation, easy to use, no injury and adverse reactions, and great potential for development. The risk factors for the postoperative pulmonary infection in patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage: A retrospective analysis.
The risk factors for the pulmonary infections after hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the potential risk factors for the postoperative pulmonary infection in patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage. Patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage undergone surgery from January 2018 to December 2019 were included. ⋯ Escherichia coli is the most common bacteria of pulmonary infection. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that the preoperative hypoalbuminemia (OR2.89, 1.67∼4.78), tracheotomy (OR5.31, 1.24∼11.79), diabetes (OR4.92, 1.32∼9.80), preoperative GCS (OR5.66, 2.84∼11.21), and the duration of mechanical ventilation (OR2.78, 2.32∼3.61) were the independent risk factors for the pulmonary infection in patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage (all P < .05). Patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage after surgery have a higher risk of postoperative pulmonary infections, and there are many related risk factors, which should be taken seriously in clinical practice.
