Hemiarthroplasty versus total hip arthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fracture in patients older than 80 years: A randomized trial protocol.
The forms of treatment which are available for these patients include internal fixation, hemiarthroplasty (HA), or total hip arthroplasty (THA). Both HA and THA are widely used methods of hip replacement after displaced femoral neck fracture (DFNF). Our purpose is to analyze the long-term outcomes of these 2 different forms of treatment, which are suitable for active patients with femoral neck intracapsular fractures ≥80 years of age without advanced osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. ⋯ This trial is expected to be the largest randomized trial assessing the efficacy of THA and HA and powered to detect a potential difference in the primary outcome.

Colon cancer is a common malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, a clear diagnosis is particularly important for the treatment of colon cancer. Ultrasound and spiral computed tomography (CT) can both be used in the diagnosis, but each has its own advantages and disadvantages, which could cause confusion in clinical choice. The purpose of this study was to systematically evaluate the practicability of spiral CT and ultrasound in the diagnosis of colon cancer. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/WAJHQ.

The effectiveness of far-infrared irradiation on foot skin surface temperature and heart rate variability in healthy adults over 50 years of age: A randomized study.
Far-infrared irradiation (FIR) is used in the medical field to improve wound healing, hemodialysis with peripheral artery occlusive disease, and osteoarthritis but seldom used in ameliorating poor lower extremity circulation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of FIR on changes in foot skin surface temperature (FSST) and autonomic nerve system (ANS) activity to evaluate its effectiveness in improving lower limb circulation. ⋯ FIR significantly increased the FSST from between 4°C and 7°C after 40 minutes irradiation, which might improve lower extremity circulation and regulation of ANS activity.

Effects of intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase combined with edaravone on cerebral hemodynamics and T lymphocyte level in patients with acute cerebral infarction.
Our study aimed to investigate the effect of intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase and edaravone on cerebral hemodynamics and T lymphocyte level in patients harboring acute cerebral infarction. There involved a total of 118 patients with acute cerebral infarction from November 2017 to May 2019 in our hospital were randomly divided into 2 groups: the observation group (59 patients were treated with intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase combined with edaravone) and the control group (59 patients were treated with intravenous thrombolysis of alteplase). The clinical effect, neurological function, cerebral hemodynamic index, T lymphocyte level, oxygen free radical scavenging level and oxidative stress index of the 2 groups were observed and compared. ⋯ After the treatment, the neurological function, cerebral hemodynamic indexes, T-lymphocyte level, oxygen free radical scavenging level and oxidative stress indexes of the 2 groups were significantly improved. In addition, the observation group exerted greater beneficial effect in terms of the clinical effect, neurologic function, cerebral hemodynamic index, T lymphocyte level, oxygen free radical scavenging level and oxidative stress index than those of the control group (P < .05). The intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase and edaravone is effective in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction, which also provides better results in terms of improving the clinical efficacy and prognosis of patients and might be an alternative option for clinical practice.

The rarity of adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) in China, coupled with its clinicopathologic mimicry of primary skin disease, poses a diagnostic challenge. The method of diagnosis and mechanism of immune regulation in ATLL are discussed in the present report. ⋯ Patch and plaque ATLL types exhibits a better survival rate, but atypical skin patches delays the diagnosis of ATLL and negatively affects the patient survival. Based on the present findings, we suggest that patients with petal-like nuclear lymphocytes in blood smears, a high CD4: CD8 ratio, and strong CD25 expression should undergo HTLV-1 serology testing.
