Tianqi Jiangtang Capsule is a commonly used Chinese patent medicine for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in China. The purpose of this study is to systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Tianqi Jiangtang Capsule in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. ⋯ According to the results of this study, Tianqi Jiangtang Capsule combined with antidiabetic agents may have a better therapeutic effect on diabetes mellitus than antidiabetic agents alone, but due to the low methodological quality and limited number of studies, more high-quality studies are needed to verify it.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of intraoperative oxygen content on the development of early allograft dysfunction (EAD) in patients undergoing living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). This retrospective review included 452 adult patients who underwent elective LDLT. Our study population was classified into 2 groups: EAD and non-EAD. ⋯ Postoperatively, patients with EAD had a longer duration of hospitalization, higher incidences of acute kidney injury and infection, and experienced higher rates of patient mortality, compared to patients without EAD. Lower arterial oxygen concentration may negatively impact the functional recovery of the graft after LDLT, despite preserved hepatic vascular flow. Before graft reperfusion, the levels of oxygen content components, such as hemoglobin content, PaO2, and SaO2, should be regularly assessed and carefully maintained to ensure proper oxygen delivery into transplanted liver grafts.

Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a chronic gastrointestinal disorder diagnosed with dyspeptic symptoms, such as recurrent or persistent postprandial fullness, epigastric pain, burning, and early satiety without any evidence of structural abnormality. In traditional Korean medicine, herbal remedies are one of the preferred treatments for gastrointestinal symptoms. Among them, Naesohwajung-tang (NHT) has been frequently prescribed to improve dyspeptic symptoms for a long time. However, the safety and efficacy of NHT still remain unclear. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of NHT in patients with FD using a randomized controlled trial. ⋯ This trial will evaluate the safety and efficacy of NHT as a treatment of FD. The results of this trial will not only verify whether NHT improves FD symptoms and gastric myoelectrical activity, but also clarify those correlations.

Case Reports
Identification of a novel mutation in pseudohypoparathyroidism type Ia in a Chinese family: A case report.
Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) indicates a group of rare disorders characterized by end-organ resistance to various hormones, primarily parathyroid hormone (PTH). One of its most common type is PHP-Ia, which is caused by maternally inherited inactivating mutations in GNAS. In this report, we present a Chinese girl with typical features of PHP-Ia and a novel mutation of the GNAS gene. ⋯ The study further expands the spectrum of known GNAS mutations associated with PHP and lay emphasis on the genetic analysis of GNAS gene for identifying genetic abnormalities as well as making diagnosis and differentiation of various subtypes of PHP.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
A multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-parallel controlled trial for the efficacy and safety of shenfuqiangxin pills in the treatment of chronic heart failure (Heart-Kidney yang deficiency syndrome).
Heart failure (HF) is the final stage of various cardiac diseases with poor prognosis. The integrated traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine therapy has been considered as a prospective therapeutic strategy for chronic heart failure (CHF). There have been small clinical trials and experimental studies to demonstrate the efficacy of Shenfu Qiangxin Pills (SFQX) for treating CHF, however, there is still a lack of further high-quality trial. This paper describes the protocol for the clinical assessment of SFQX in CHF (heart-kidney Yang deficiency syndrome) patients. ⋯ The integrated TCM and western medicine therapy has developed into a treatment model in China. The rigorous design of the trial will assure an objective and scientific assessment of the efficacy and safety of SFQX in the treatment of CHF.
