Osteoporosis is defined as a metabolic skeletal disease characterized by a decrease of the bone mass per unit volume, caused by a variety of reasons. Increasing evidence indicate that the host inflammatory response was correlated with the occurrence and development of osteoporosis, and it has been recognized that T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes play a critical role in pathogenesis of inflammatory bone disease. Between January 2018 and December 2018, retrospective analysis of 487 patients (exclusion of patients with recent infections and hematologic disorders whose leukocyte counts or classifications are markedly abnormal) who underwent bone mineral density (BMD) examinations in Huzhou Central Hospital. ⋯ The difference between neutrocyte ratio lymphocyte ratio and the monocyte ratio was statistically significant in both males and females among the normal bone density group, osteopenia group and osteoporosis group (P < .01 or P < .05). Inflammation plays an important role in the progression of osteoporosis. By monitoring these three indicators in blood routine examination, early intervention for osteoporosis may become possible.

Plasma albumin to fibrinogen ratio is involved in human cancer, but its prognostic significance in breast cancer is controversy. In the context of breast invasive ductal carcinoma, this research aims to retrospectively evaluate by preoperative plasma albumin to fibrinogen ratio (AFR) and forecast oncological outcome and recurrence. This retrospective study comprised 230 patients with non-metastatic breast invasive ductal carcinoma who underwent surgery between January 2009 and April 2012 in Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University. ⋯ Two prediction model of 3-, 5-years OS and DFS based on the AFR was developed. Elevated preoperative plasma AFR is an independent prognostic factor for oncological outcomes in patients with breast invasive ductal carcinoma. The formulated nomogram showed superior predictive accuracy for DFS and OS.

Community-acquired pneumonia caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in a Chinese adult: A case report.
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has been established as an important cause of severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) with very high mortality. Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL) producing MRSA has been reported to be associated with necrotizing pneumonia and worse outcome. The incidence of community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA) pneumonia is very low, as only a few CA-MRSA pneumonia cases were reported in the last few years. We present a case of severe CAP caused by PVL-positive MRSA with ensuing septic shock. ⋯ This is a report of severe pneumonia due to PVL-positive CA-MRSA in a healthy adult. CA-MRSA should be considered a pathogen of severe CAP, especially when combined with septic shock in previously healthy individuals.

Successful blood glucose management of a severe COVID-19 patient with diabetes: A case report.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has emerged as a rapidly spreading communicable disease affecting individuals worldwide. Patients with diabetes are more vulnerable to the disease, and the mortality is higher than in those without diabetes. We reported a severe COVID-19 patient with diabetes and shared our experience with blood glucose management. ⋯ This case indicated that the comprehensive measures performed by a multidisciplinary team achieved good treatment effects on a COVID-19 patient with diabetes. Targeted treatment and nursing methods should be performed based on patients' actual situations in clinical practice.

To explore a suitable indication of interspinous process distraction device for lumbar spinal stenosis with BacFuse. Patients of lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) who experienced interspinous process distraction device surgery with BacFuse from June 2014 to January 2015 in our institute were included. We classified LSS into central and lateral types, and then divided these into severe and moderate according to the degree of stenosis. ⋯ The most suitable indication for BacFuse treatment was the lateral moderate type. For lateral severe patients, distraction combined with decompression is suggested for a higher satisfaction rate. Severe central spinal stenosis was shown to be a relative contraindication for BacFuse.
