Shared decision making (SDM) is a process within the physician-patient relationship applicable to any clinical action, whether diagnostic, therapeutic, or preventive in nature. It has been defined as a process of mutual respect and participation between the doctor and the patient. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of decision aids (DA) in primary care based on changes in adherence to treatments, knowledge, and awareness of the disease, conflict with decisions, and patients' and health professionals' satisfaction with the intervention. ⋯ DA used in primary care are effective to reduce decisional conflict and improve knowledge on the disease and treatment options, awareness of risk, and satisfaction with the decisions made. More studies are needed to assess the impact of shared decision making in primary care.

Review Case Reports
A rare acantholytic variant of squamous cell carcinoma of the maxilla: A case report and literature review.
Acantholytic squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC) is an uncommon histopathologic variant of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), which is the most common malignancy of the oral cavity. Though ASCC showed poor prognosis, the exact diagnosis is challenging. ⋯ Special attention should be paid to this variant of SCC because most patients with ASCC have a very poor prognosis.

In China, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an increasingly important part of the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which usually includes a combination of prescription and syndrome differentiation. Epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) have been proven to be the first-line drugs for the treatment of advanced EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC. In China, EGFR-TKIs are used in combination with traditional Chinese medicines to reduce side effects and/or enhance effectiveness. Nevertheless, the relationship between TCMs and EGFR-TKIs remain unclear. This meta-review aimed to explore the clinical evidence of TCMs combined with EGFR-TKIs in the treatment of NSCLC. ⋯ TCMs may improve the efficacy of EGFR-TKIs in the treatment of NSCLC.

Meta Analysis
Association of miR-4293 rs12220909 polymorphism with cancer risk: A meta-analysis of 8394 subjects.
Several studies have investigated miR-4293 rs12220909 polymorphisms and cancer susceptibility and yielded different results. Because of this controversy, we designed a meta-analysis to assess comprehensively the association of the rs12220909 polymorphism with cancer risk. ⋯ Our results indicate that rs12220909 is not associated with cancer risk. Larger, well-designed multicenter studies are needed to further explore the association of miR-4293 rs12220909 polymorphism with cancer risk.

Review Case Reports
Macrophage activation syndrome as an unusual presentation of paucisymptomatic severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection: A case report.
Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is a rare life-threatening condition characterized by cytokine-mediated tissue injury and multiorgan dysfunction. ⋯ SARS-CoV-2 infection may trigger develop life-threatening complications, like MAS. This can be independent from coronavirus disease 2019 gravity.
