The predictive role of the posterior tibial tendon cross-sectional area in early diagnosing posterior tibial tendon dysfunction.
A hypertrophied posterior tibial tendon (PTT) has been considered to be an important morphologic parameter of PTT dysfunction (PTTD). Previous research has demonstrated that the PTT thickness (PTTT) is correlated with early signs of PTTD. However, the thickness is different from hypertrophy. ⋯ The receiver operator characteristic analysis curve demonstrated that the highest predictive value of the PTTT was 3.07 mm, with 85.7% sensitivity, 85.0% specificity. The highest predictive value of the PTTCSA was 22.54 mm, with 92.9% sensitivity, 90.0% specificity. Our findings suggest that the PTTCSA was a more valid predictor of PTTD, even though the PTTT and PTTCSA were both significantly associated with PTTD.

Dextrocardia is a rare congenital heart disease, while the persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is an uncommon congenital vascular malformation. It is extremely rare for a person to have dextrocardia and PLSVC. A case with a combination of dextrocardia, PLSVC, and atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia has not been reported. ⋯ Physicians need to be aware that the key to the success of RFCA, in this case, is to clarify the complexity of the morphological and anatomical structures of dextrocardia accompanying PLSVC and to consult and understand the experience of access vessels reported in relevant cases before the operation.

Neonatal testicular torsion is a rare condition. There is no consensus about the optimal surgical treatment of neonatal testicular torsions. The salvage rate reported in literature remains poor. Discrimination of the onset of a neonatal testicular torsion seems to have an important impact of the salvage rate. Deliveries out of breech presentation have a risk for neonatal complications including neonatal genital birthtrauma. ⋯ We present this rare case in regard to the current literature and recommend close observation of newborns for genital trauma after delivery out of breech position. We encourage surgeons to carefully consider leaving the testicles in situ.

The purpose of this study was to acquire the epidemic trend of age-standardized reported incidence and to analyze the age effect, period effect, and cohort effect on the reported incidence of hepatitis C in Jilin Province, China. We collected the annual reported incidence data of hepatitis C by gender (2008-2017). Annual percentage change and annual average percentage change were calculated by joinpoint Poisson regression analysis. ⋯ The birth cohort of the patients with the lowest incidence was in the 1980s, followed by the 1970s and 1960s. Although the overall reported incidence trend of hepatitis C is declining and the risk of the young birth cohort is low, many factors affecting infection and testing with hepatitis C still exist in China. We should focus on high-risk population management and formulate corresponding public health strategies to accelerate the implementation of the global health strategy to eliminate hepatitis C published by the World Health Organization.

Expression and clinical significance of aquaporin-1, vascular endothelial growth factor and microvessel density in gastric cancer.
To investigate the expression and clinical significance of aquaporin-1 (AQP1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and microvessel density (MVD) in gastric cancer. A total of 79 gastric cancer patients who were admitted into Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital from January, 2018 to December, 2019 were involved in this study. Tumor specimens and para-cancerous normal tissues (> 2 cm away from the tumor) of all the enrolled patients were collected. ⋯ Spearman correlation analysis showed that AQP1 was positively associated with VEGF expression (r = 0.497, P < .05). MVD was enhanced in VEGF or AQP1 positive cancer tissues compared with that in VEGF or AQP1 negative tissue (P < .05). Synergistic effect among AQP1, VEGF, and MVD is involved in occurrence and development of gastric cancer.
