"Pulsating proptosis and heavy eye syndrome precipitated by neurofibromatosis type 1: A case report".
Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a hereditary disease characterized by café-au-lait spots, peripheral neurofibromas, Lisch nodules, optic nerve glioma, and sphenoid wing dysplasia. Pulsating proptosis is associated with a sphenoid bony defect. Heavy eye syndrome is characterized by acquired esohypotropia in patients with high myopia. This study aimed to describe the presentation of pulsating proptosis and heavy eye syndrome precipitated by NF1 and its management. ⋯ This case describes a rare synchronous presentation of pulsating proptosis and heavy eye syndrome precipitated by NF1. Adult-onset presentation implied a progressive process in NF1. The case also showed a different etiology from that of typical heavy eye syndrome. It reminds ophthalmologists that orbital imaging should be performed in high myopia patients with strabismus to evaluate the extraocular muscle pathway. Furthermore, the case demonstrated a management that avoided the risk and expensive cost of neurosurgery, which has not been reported.

Infliximab (IFX) and adalimumab (ADA) refer to the classic drugs to treat moderate-severe inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which have been proven to be effective to control IBD. However, the side effects exerted by IFX and ADA should be monitored in therapies, especially the paradoxical reaction of the skin system (e.g., psoriasis). Psoriasis is recognized as the most common skin lesion, capable of significantly affecting the quality of patients' life. ⋯ The frequency of reported in IBD exceeds those of other autoimmune diseases, and the ADA treatment for IBD is safer than IFX. Psoriasis is more common in females than in males. Smoking refers to one of risk factors of psoriasis.

Efficacy and safety of Huangkui capsule for diabetic nephropathy: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is 1 of the most serious complications of diabetes mellitus and the leading cause of end-stage renal disease in the world. Huangkui capsule, extracted from Abelmoschus manihot (L.) medic (AM), has been widely used to treat DN. However, there is no consensus on the efficacy of Huangkui capsule for DN. This study aims to perform meta-analysis to systematically review the efficacy and safety of Huangkui capsule. ⋯ The result of this systematic review will provide objective evidence-based basis to judge the effectiveness and safety of Huangkui capsule on diabetic nephropathy.

This study aimed to compare between the clinical and laboratory characteristics of neurosyphilis and those of syphilis in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive and explore the risk factors associated with the occurrence of neurosyphilis in the HIV infected. In-patients diagnosed with HIV and syphilis co-infection who underwent a lumbar puncture and completed cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination were divided into neurosyphilis group and syphilis group. The demographic characteristics, symptoms and signs, and laboratory tests of the 2 groups were comparatively analyzed. ⋯ Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that heterosexual contact transmission route, not received antiretroviral therapy, lower CD4 cell count and higher serum TRUST titer, untreated with syphilis, and neurological symptoms and signs were risk factors associated with the occurrence of neurosyphilis. The serum TRUST titer, CSF white blood cell count, CSF protein level, CSF HIV viral load, and the percentage of neurological symptoms and signs in the neurosyphilis group were higher. Heterosexual transmission route, not received antiretroviral therapy, and untreated with syphilis prompted the possibility of neurosyphilis occurrence.

Pulmonary cavitations with increased 18F-FDG uptake revealing a thoracic endometriosis: A case report.
Thoracic endometriosis is a rare disorder that can involve airways, pleura and lung parenchyma. It is the most frequent form of extra-abdominopelvic endometriosis. Multiple lung cavitations are a rare feature of thoracic endometriosis. ⋯ Thoracic endometriosis is a rare disorder requiring a multidisciplinary management including gynaecologist, pulmonologist, radiologist, nuclear physician, pathologist and thoracic surgeon for early diagnosis and treatment. Our case report highlights that an increased 18F-FDG uptake can be found in thoracic endometriosis syndrome presenting as multiple lung cavitations.
