Effects of Shenfu injection on inflammatory factors and immune function in children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae: A protocol for a double-blind, randomized controlled trial.
Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is a common infectious respiratory disease in pediatrics, and macrolide antibiotics are the optimal treatment option. In recent years, there is a significant increase in the resistance of this pathogen to macrolide antibiotics, which makes the clinical treatment of this disease increasingly complex. Shenfu injection (SFI), a herbal extract injection, has advantages of improving immune function, reducing inflammatory reaction, improving curative effect and shortening the course of disease in the treatment of pediatric MP. However, there is a lack of rigorous clinical studies to evaluate the effects of SFI on inflammatory factors and immune function in children with MP. ⋯ In this study, an evaluation was conducted on the effects of SFI on inflammatory factors and immune function in pediatric MP. The results of this experiment will provide a clinical basis for the adjuvant treatment of pediatric MP with SFI.

Osteoporosis is a common condition that affects bones. Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) is a highly prevalent complication related to osteoporosis. Each year, OVCF affects nearly 700,000 individuals. Nowadays, there are many surgical methods to treat OVCF, and each has distinct advantages. Among them, the efficacy and safeness of vertebroplasty are yet to be established. The present article will systematically ascertain the effectiveness and security of using vertebroplasty to treat OVCF. ⋯ Our findings will present strong evidence to help determine whether vertebroplasty therapy is efficient and safe for OVCF patients.

To our knowledge, there is no comprehensive evidence quantifying the plausibility of the association between maternal free sugar intake during pregnancy and the development of offspring's allergic diseases. Thus, this systematic review examines the weight of evidence for causality from cohort studies on the association between maternal free sugar intake during pregnancy and the development of allergies in offspring. ⋯ It is hypothesized that high free sugar consumption during pregnancy may be associated with the development of allergies in offspring.

The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) may be a potential biomarker to evaluate the condition of ulcerative colitis (UC), but whether it can determine the activity of UC is still controversial. So we conducted this meta-analysis to study the relationship between them. ⋯ NLR may be a useful index to determine the severity and activity of UC, and it is expected to be widely used in clinical practice in the future.

In recent years, docetaxel, cisplatin, and fluorouracil (TPF)-based induction chemotherapy plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) has been commonly applied for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC). However, whether TPF+CCRT regimen is the best choice for LA-NPC remains unclear. This meta-analysis aims to elucidate and compare the efficacy and toxicity of TPF+CCRT versus CCRT alone for LA-NPC. ⋯ TPF + CCRT is superb than CCRT alone for the management of LA-NPC. However, TPF+CCRT increases the incidences of grade 3/4 acute hematological toxicity and some non-hematological toxicities.
