Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS), a rare autosomal dominant disorder, is characterized by mucocutaneous pigmentations, hamartomatous polyps in the gastrointestinal tract, and a high risk of developing various malignancies. To the best of our knowledge, only 1 case of appendiceal carcinoid associated with PJS has been previously reported in the pediatric population. ⋯ Unusual neoplasms can occasionally be encountered in well-defined syndromes such as PJS. Therefore, active follow-up and surveillance are mandatory for all patients with PJS.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there are concerns about medical delay, including confirmatory tests after screening for various cancers. We evaluated the lead time to a confirmatory test after an abnormal screening Papanicolaou (Pap) test in women before the COVID-19 period and during the COVID-19 period. The medical records of 1144 women who underwent colposcopy at a single institution located in Seoul after abnormal Pap results from January 2019 to December 2020 were reviewed. ⋯ Instead, patients' residence, institution of the Pap test, and results of the Pap test were associated with a long lead time to colposcopy of >6 weeks. The lead time to colposcopy from the abnormal Pap test was not delayed in the COVID-19 era compared to before. However, regional factors could affect a long lead time.

MYL2 as a potential predictive biomarker for rhabdomyosarcoma.
Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a common malignant soft tissue sarcoma, which is the third most common soft tissue sarcoma after malignant fibrohistoma and liposarcoma. The discovery of potential postbiomarkers could lead to early and more effective treatment measures to reduce the mortality of RMS. The discovery of biomarker is expected to be the direction of targeted therapy, providing a new direction for the precise treatment of RMS. ⋯ RMS patients with low expression level of MYL2 had poorer overall survival times than those with high expression levels (P < .05). In summary, lower expression of MYL2 was 1 prediction for poor prognosis of RMS. MYL2 is hope to be the target of therapy, which leads to more effective treatment and reduces the mortality rate of RMS.

To evaluate the application of virtual reality technology in a dental implant training system. A 3-dimensional model of mandible was established by Mimics17.0 software based on the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine data obtained from cone beam computed tomography scanning of the patient in mandibular. Thirty physicians were divided into 2 groups. ⋯ After the training of simulated mandibular implants in group A, the deviations in the 4 dimensions of mesiodistal, buccal and tongue, depth, and angle were significantly lower than those of group B (P < .05). Group A has smaller deviations in each of the 4 dimensions than those in group B, indicating group A has a higher operation success rate. We independently develop a set of virtual surgery system for dental implant training, which can be used for teaching and training, with good operability and predictability, to achieve a breakthrough in dental implant surgery training.

Cancer death and potential years of life lost in Feicheng City, China: Trends from 2013 to 2018.
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of cancer-related mortality on life expectancy in Feicheng City. We extracted the death records and population data of Feicheng City from 2013 to 2018 through the Feicheng Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The mortality, premature mortality, cause-eliminated life expectancy, potential years of life lost (PYLL), average potential years of life lost (APYLL), annual change percentage (APC), and other indicators of cancer were calculated. ⋯ The top 5 malignant tumors in APYLL were leukemia, breast cancer, brain tumor, liver cancer, and ovarian cancer. Lung cancer, esophageal cancer, female breast cancer, and childhood leukemia have a great impact on the life expectancy of residents in Feicheng City. Effective measures need to be taken to reduce the disease burden of malignant tumors.
