The differences between fecal microbiota and intestinal fluid microbiota in colon polyps: An observational study.
Generally, intestinal microbiota can be classified into intestinal cavity microbiota and mucosal microbiota, among which, the former is the default type. This study aimed to identify the differences between fecal microbiota and intestinal fluid microbiota in colon polys. This study enrolled patients with colon polys who met the Rome-III criteria to carry out 16s rDNA gene sequencing. ⋯ At the family level, differences in Bacteroidaceae, Micrococcaceae, F16, Spirocheatacae, Enterobacteriaceae, Cardiobacteriaceae, Turkish Spirobacteriaceae, Bifidobacteriaceae, and Dethiosulfovibrionaceae were statistically significant between the 2 groups. At the genus level, there were statistical differences between the 2 groups in terms of Bacteroidetes, Rothia, Actinobacillus, F16, Treponema, Oscillospira, Turicibacter, Sharpea, Heamophilus, Veillonella, and Cardiobacterium. There are statistical differences in the composition between intestinal microbiota and fecal microbiota in CP patients, both of which are equally important and indispensable for analyzing the intestinal microbiota in CP patients.

Sternocleidomastoid size and upper trapezius muscle thickness in congenital torticollis patients: A retrospective observational study.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the upper trapezius muscle thickness (UTMT) in congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) patients and determine the correlation among sternocleidomastoid muscle thickness (SCMT), accessory nerve (AN) cross-sectional area (CSA), and UTMT in CMT. This retrospective study consisted of 2 participant groups: Group 1 (SCM mass CMT, n = 20) and Group 2 (Postural CMT, n = 22). For both groups, B-mode ultrasound was performed by a physiatrist to measure the SCMT and UTMT and calculate the CSA of the AN. ⋯ The intragroup comparison between the affected and unaffected sides also revealed that, in Group 1, the SCMT, UTMT, and CSA of the AN were significantly higher on the affected side than on the unaffected side (P < .05), whereas no significant differences were observed in Group 2. In Group 1, a positive correlation (r = 0.55) was observed between the UTMT and CSA of the AN on the affected side, but not observed between the SCMT and CSA of the AN. The findings of the study indicate that sternocleidomastoid muscle size may impact the thickness of the upper trapezius muscle via the accessory nerve in patients with congenital torticollis.

To examine whether the association between blood transfusion and suicide attempt exists. Utilizing the national insurance database from Taiwan and propensity score matching analysis, the incidence of suicide attempt in a cohort with blood transfusion versus controls was compared. The key finding is that higher incidence of suicide attempt in blood transfusion than control group (with an adjusted hazard ratio of 1.79 with 95% confidence interval, 1.72-1.88) after adjusted for the covariates. Patients receiving blood transfusion are an increased risk of subsequent suicide attempt.

Evaluate the feasibility of ERAS-based home exercise pre-rehabilitation in patients awaiting kidney transplantation. ⋯ This study will evaluate the effect of ERAS-based home exercise pre-rehabilitation on patients awaiting kidney transplantation, and possibly determine an application protocol for this population.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sevoflurane-remifentanil (SR) vs propofol-remifentanil (PR) as inhalation anesthesia or total intravenous anesthesia in patients undergoing craniotomy, respectively. ⋯ SR and PR as anesthetics in patients underwent craniotomy had similar effects, but PR was superior to SR in terms of safety of intraoperation and postoperation.
